It is no secret that rappers are openly connected to drugs. Without judging whether this puts them in a good or a bad light we can easily say that almost 80% of the celebrity rappers do not hesitate to admit that they are in fact hooked on multiple recreational drugs. Famous celebrities like Lil Wayne, Ice Cube and many more have openly let the press document them taking various substances that are either illegal or looked down upon by society. Although, there are many others who seem to look up to them and are eager to know more about the variety of drugs they consume. So let’s show a list of the drugs that are gaining popularity among celebrity rappers

Weed

Though now legalized in man states of the USA and many other countries all over the world, rappers played a major role in normalizing the act of smoking weed for recreational use. Marijuana is now winning the battle for legalization but we can not forget the support it got from famous rappers like Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne. Most such celebrities openly roll joints and smoke bongs even on live T.V.

Molly

Molly is the street name for MDMA. It is a chemical drug that gives you a euphoric trip of 3-4 hours depending upon the dosage. Unlike weed, molly has lesser support from the rap world but that is probably because they understand the side effects and addiction factor of this drug compared to weed. Even though rappers like Jay-Z, Kanye West and French Montana have glorified its use, the drug is not expected to be legalized in the near future.

Resin

Resin is a THC concentrate and is just a very potent form of Cannabis. There are many ways to extract Cannabis and one of them results in Resin. Like weed, resin is also a common choice of drug among many rappers. Another form of resin called live resin is quickly gaining popularity among rappers like Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane and Wiz Khalifa. Unlike resin which is totally natural, live resin is mixed with chemicals which makes it even more potent.

Lean

Lean, purple drank, sizzurp are just some of the many names that a concoction of cough syrup with other mixers is called. Served in a plastic cup, lean is the drink of choice for many rappers. Lil Wayne, Juice Wrld, Drake, Travis Scott and many other influential celebrity rappers openly talk about drinking syrup and enjoying the effects it has on them. They have been seen public sporting the ‘cup’ which became a symbol of drinking lean. Since cough syrup that contains codeine is not available without a prescription, it is hard to come by but not impossible. All you need is a friend behind the counter.

Most of these drugs are still being considered for legalization but until then their support is growing every day. Rappers don’t just commercialize the use of these drugs but also talk about safe consumption and knowing your limits. With such a huge fanbase, most of these celebrities have immense power to change the way society looks at drugs.
