Song by Song Breakdown of Certified Lover Boy vs Donda
Track 16: Kanye – “Jesus Lord” featuring Jay Electronica vs. Drake featuring Ty Dolla $ign – “Get Along Better”
Winner: Kanye West
Kanye – “Jesus Lord” featuring Jay Electronica
Storytelling Ye is beating R&B Drake 99 times out of 100. “Jesus Lord” is easily one of the highlights of both albums. Certainly will be in rotation moving forward.
Track 17: Kanye – “New Again” featuring Chris Brown vs. Drake featuring Lil Wayne & Rick Ross – “You Only Live Twice”
Winner: Drake
Drake featuring Lil Wayne & Rick Ross – “You Only Live Twice”
I saw an opinion online that Lil Wayne had the best verse on Certified Lover Boy. That might be a bit extreme, but it’s definitely one of the best displays on the whole project. Drake takes this one easily.
Track 18: Kanye – “Tell The Vision” featuring Pop Smoke vs. Drake featuring Kid Cudi – “IMY2”
Winner: Drake
“IMY2”
Tell the vision is cool only because it has about 8 bars of just piano, besides that it’s not a real song. Kid Cudi and Drake together sounds cool and means more because of their previous beef.

Track 19: Kanye – “Lord I Need You” featuring Sunday Service Choir vs. Drake – “Fucking Fans”
Winner: Drake
Polar opposite tracks. The Kanye record is him at his Gospel height on this project. Meanwhile, Drake is talking his slickest Lover Boy talk. The Kanye record feels more like a church hymn then a song though, so Drake pulls it off.
Track 20: Kanye – “Pure Souls” featuring Roddy Ricch & Shenseea vs. Drake – “The Remorse”
Winner: Kanye
Kanye – “Pure Souls” featuring Roddy Ricch & Shenseea
These songs are surprisingly evenly matched. If CLB was a mixtape, “The Remorse” would be a stellar final track to get us hype for the album. “Pure Souls” is a bit of a surprise from Kanye after a few misses. This could have gone either way.
Now, if you been paying attention, you know that Kanye had more tracks than Drake. So, we decided to throw in a couple bonus tracks, since technically, they could have easily been on the Drake album. It works because these are mostly part 2’s of songs already featured on the Kanye album…
Track 21: Kanye – “Come To Life” vs. Drake featuring Lil Durk – “Laugh Now Cry Later”
Winner: Drake
Drake featuring Lil Durk – “Laugh Now Cry Later”
Not the most fair comparison. “Come To Life” is a solid album cut, but not much of a stand alone song. “Laugh Now Cry Later” might be the best track Drake has released this year.
Track 22: Kanye – “No Child Left Behind” featuring Sunday Service Choir & Vory vs. Drake – “What’s Next” (off the Scary Hours EP)
Winner: Drake
Drake – “What’s Next” (off the Scary Hours EP)
If that beat ever dropped and Kanye came with a fire verse, it would have been an easy win. But “No Child Left Behind” is a glorified outro. “What’s Next” isn’t even a great track.
Track 23: Kanye – “Jail Pt. 2” featuring DaBaby & Marilyn Manson vs. Drake featuring Lil Baby – “Wants and Needs” (off the Scary Hours EP)
Winner: Drake
Drake featuring Lil Baby – “Wants and Needs” (off the Scary Hours EP)
Basically feels like I’m judging DaBaby vs Lil Baby. Drake does go off for what it’s worth, and Kanye offers very little of anything new for his end as compared to the original. While DaBaby does his thing, I gotta give the Lil Baby and Drake combo the edge.
Track 24: Kanye – “Ok Ok, Pt. 2” featuring Rooga & Shenseea vs. Drake featuring Rick Ross – “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” (off the Scary Hours EP)
Winner: Drake
Drake featuring Rick Ross – “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” (off the Scary Hours EP
Maybe not too fair because Drake and Rozay skated all over this track. SKATED! Definitely a track that should have made the album, even as a bonus track, but Drake went the completely new material route. “Ok Ok, Pt. 2” is just that, Okay.
Track 25: Kanye – “Junya, Pt. 2” featuring Playboi Carti & Ty Dolla $ign vs. Drake featuring Headie One – “Only You Freestyle”
Winner: Kanye West
Kanye – “Junya, Pt. 2” featuring Playboi Carti & Ty Dolla $ign
Kanye takes it, even with the mediocre track.
Track 26: Kanye – “Jesus Lord, Pt. 2” featuring Jay Electronica & The LOX
Winner: Kanye

Thought about putting this up against that Yung Blue & Drake bop, but honestly, nothing could really touch this collaboration.
If we only used the tracks from Certified Lover Boy and ended there than Drake would be winning 11 to 9 at that point.
Kanye only won 2 more rounds after that point based on the songs they were up against and only those 2 tracks were overwhelming favorites. That would have us at 11 to 11.
You decide if you want the original count or one of the the adjusted counts.
