Earlier today, the Broccoli City Festival 2022 line up was announced.  The event is scheduled to take place on May 7th & 8th in Washington, D.C.  The line-up includes 21 Savage, Ari Lennox, Summer Walker, Lil Durk, Gunna and a number of other artists.  Wale was also scheduled to perform, getting less than top billing on the flyer, even though he is the artist with the greatest longevity from the city.  Hours after the announcement, Wale pulled out of the Broccoli City Festival, citing respect.

Wale took to Twitter to explain his decision and reply to fans about his absence.

I’m Pullin out this show . https://t.co/PVCep1gINu

I’m not mad at all . I wish people would ask 😂 I’m sure the festival will be amazing all the artist are fire. I don’t think I’ll be missed and I never cared about headlining . This ain’t that. If u gon judge me at least know what’s on my mind my guy https://t.co/kqQX4qie3a

Broccoli City Festival replied as well, saying that they hoped they would be able to work it out with Wale.

We are looking to work something out with @Wale – he is a great artist that we respect! We will work something out ! It’s love. We black he black – we all want to bring vibes to the city! https://t.co/tjscYkkA9B

Wale pulled out of Broccoli City Festival because of respect and messaging, but people on Twitter will make it into something it is not.  He has had many moments in the music industry where he has had to fight for his spot and his recognition.
