[STREAM] Talib Kweli & Yasmin Bey as Black Star Drop ‘No Fear of Time’, First Album in 24 Years

After 24 years of absence in the music industry, the Black Star makes their long-awaited comeback. The 1998 classic rap duo with Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def) as its members are releasing their new album titled No Fear Of Time. The Black Star No Fear of Time album is their first record in 24 years.

The new album is produced completely by Madlib and is available only for download through Luminary. Luminary CEO Rishi Malhotra said, “With No Fear of Time, Black Star has crafted an important record and a different kind of record release, partnering with Luminary—a cultural label that is becoming home for the world’s most thoughtful artists.”

 In a press release, Kweli said, “About 3-4 years ago I was visiting Yasiin in Europe and we started to talk about songs to do on an album, so I flew an engineer out just to see what that would be. Once I realized this conversation is starting to organically become a creative conversation, I started making sure to have the engineer around at all times.”

No Fear of Time was likewise recorded entirely backstage at Dave Chappelle’s live gigs or in hotel rooms, rather than in studios. The outcome is a “guerrilla type” album, full of spontaneity over Madlib’s soulful music, as Luminary describes it.
