At the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday Night, comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage by a man while performing in Los Angeles. The 48-year-old comedian was tackled to the ground while he was performing at the Netflix is a joke festival.

Video footage shows a man is seen rushing onto the stage and tackling the comedian to the ground. There has been couple of clips flying around on social media with all showing different angles of coverage of Chappelle being attacked onstage.

The man seemed to be dragged away by security and later on, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that they had taken him into custody. Police reported that he was armed with a replica of a gun “that can eject a knife blade.” Although it isn’t clear if there was any intent to use the weapon, police confirmed that the comedian did not sustain any injuries when he was attacked onstage.

Comedian Chris Rock who also performed earlier that same night came onstage moments after the attack with Chappelle. “Was that Will Smith?” he joked, referring to the recent incident that took place at the Oscars.

Fellow comedian and actor Jamie Foxx is said to have rushed to help and also apprehend the man as Chappelle was been attacked onstage. The video clip posted on @Glock_Topickz Twitter page shows their short conversation onstage.

“Whenever you’re in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff’s hat,” Chappelle joked as he thanked Foxx in a clip of the curtain call.

“N—-, I thought that was part of the show, I didn’t know what the f-ck…” Foxx replied while also going ahead to address the audience, calling Chappelle a genius.
