Social media reacts to Burna Boy Cubana shooting scandal and it’s a doozy. Allegedly, Burna Boy and his crew shot a man and his friend six days ago, who were with a group of friends at the Cubana club because Burna Boy was rejected by one of the men’s wives.
According to Legit.ng, “it was reported that Burna Boy was hitting on one of the men’s wives [in the group] and it led to the singer’s police escort shooting at the club. The husband was one of the victims and he was reportedly hit on the thigh while another was grazed by the bullet on his head.” The two men who were shot go by Lawrence and Tolu, according to DailyPost.ng.
The wife of one of the victims, Steph Briella N., finally posted their story to their Instagram stories today (June 20th), which made Burna Boy and the story trend on Twitter. Steph Briella N.’s Instagram account is private, so I couldn’t link any additional information on her or her husband. Reporter David Hundeyin, the founder of West Africa Week, posted the screenshots of the victim’s story with the caption,
“Hi fake gangster/classroom idiot @burnaboy. Your day is coming. It won’t be me that will administer justice, because unlike you, I don’t pretend to be a gun slinging gangster. But when your day comes, you will remember I said this.”

Unfortunately, the Burna Boy Cubana shooting scandal isn’t the first time this Nigerian artist has been in the spotlight for controversial reasons. Legal.ng has reported on several other occasions, including some with Nigerian artist Davido, that involve fights, not paying people for their work, and more.
The Chairman of Cubana, Obi Cubana, spoke out today as well after Steph shared her story, insisting that Obi Cubana only reached out to [her and her friends] four days following the incident and is yet to release a Close Circuit TV footage or press statement on the issue, according to DailyPost.ng. “However, reacting to the incident, Obi Cubana, noted that the management has given every information to the legal authorities to “handle all. Obi Cubana also sympathized with “those who may have been impacted” by the incident.”
