There are a lot of people who would like to improve the way their teeth are aligned. Often, people get traditional braces as teenagers, but there are plenty of adults who never did this, as well as people who did get braces when they were younger, but whose teeth have moved back into poorer alignment over the years. Having teeth that are badly aligned can not only make you feel less attractive but can also lead to problems with the jaw and ongoing pain. This can be the case even if your teeth are otherwise healthy.

Invisible braces offer a way for adults to straighten their teeth in a way that isn’t as obvious as the conventional braces usually associated with teenagers. They also give people a way to straighten their teeth at home without having to make frequent trips to the dentist’s office. They can also be quite affordable due to the fact that most of the work is done at home. But is this type of process the best choice for you when it comes to enhancing your smile?

How do Invisible Braces Work?

When you follow a program of tooth alignment using invisible braces, you essentially wear a transparent tray that gradually moves your teeth into a new and better position. You change to a new tray every couple of weeks, which progresses the alignment of your teeth. You have to wear the tray most of the time for the best results, with most systems recommending you only take it off for two hours a day, for eating and drinking only. There are some good tooth alignment systems like the one you can find at Aligner32 that also have options where you only wear the tray for ten hours a day and take longer with the program to correct your teeth, which can be more convenient for some people.

What is Life Like While You Are Correcting Your Smile?

The process of getting and wearing invisible braces is fairly simple, however, it is important to note that it will affect your life in small ways for the time you need to use the trays. You can’t eat or drink while wearing them unless it is just still water, so you need to plan carefully when you will take out your trays for meals. You can’t casually snack or grab a coffee. If you are a smoker, this is also something to take into account, because while you can smoke with the trays in without any technical issues, it will discolor the transparent trays and look unappealing. For people who want to keep their lifestyles much the same as before, it is better to go for the program where you mainly only wear the trays while you sleep but bear in mind this can take twice as long to get the results you want.

Most people find the experience of wearing the corrective trays manageable, and worth it for the results. It is just worth bearing in mind that you will have to consider the trays in your day-to-day life while you are correcting your teeth.

What Are the Benefits Over Other Types of Tooth Alignment Correction?

There are quite a few reasons to choose modern Invisible tooth realignment systems over traditional braces.

Firstly, the cosmetic reason. A lot of adults want to straighten their teeth but don’t want obvious braces.

Secondly, it is a lot more convenient if you have a busy life. Receiving new trays when you need them and putting them in at home is a lot more convenient than having to schedule regular dental appointments.

As well as this, there is the cost. A lot of dental alignment issues can be fixed with at-home systems at a far lower cost than at an orthodontist. This is mainly due to you being able to do most of the process for yourself, with minimal involvement from your dentist.

Are Invisible Braces Suitable for Everyone?

This style of dental realignment is suitable for many alignment issues, but not all. If teeth are crooked, or you have an overbite or underbite, chances are invisible alignment systems will be suitable for correcting your teeth. However, for some more unusual or severe tooth alignment problems these systems may not be appropriate or may take far longer to get the results you are hoping for. This is why an assessment is done at the start of any program of this kind.

If you want straighter teeth and a more appealing smile, then in most cases, invisible tooth alignment systems are the best option. However, it is important to know that it is a commitment that will affect your life for the next six months or so and to be sure you are ready for that.
