The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Michael Darby sues Candiace Dillard Bassett for defamation of character! The incoming legal battle follows his co-star’s claim that he offered up cash to have sexual relations with another man, according to TMZ.
According to documents, Ashley Darby’s husband, Michael, is taking Candiace to court over comments she made during the latest season of the reality series during one of her many arguments with Ashley.
On the show, Candiace says to Ashley, “Your husband likes to leave you and go to a man named [censored]’s house and suck his ****.” She never says who the guy is, but Candiace later alleged that Michael paid for sex.
Michael sent Candiace a cease and desist earlier this year regarding her remarks but says she has yet to retract any of her allegations. He’s asking for $2 million in damages to make things right.

Fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac have watched the on-and-off friendship between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Ashley Darby for six seasons. While shade and knives have been thrown, Twitter rants have spilled onto the show, and sides have been taken. With the two stars never really getting along, many viewers are still confused about how their feud even started.
RHOP viewers saw drama start after Candiace was overly vocal about Ashley’s drinking habits prior to conceiving her first son. At the time, Candiace would call out Ashley for enjoying alcoholic beverages– despite her desire to get pregnant.
Things only got worse when Ashley got pregnant and was giving birth while Candiace took to Twitter to say some not-so-nice things. Despite issuing an apology at the season three reunion, the ladies somehow found themselves in the middle of a catfight the following season. Not only did Candiace kick Ashley out of her home that Ashley said Candiace’s mother paid for, but Candiace grabbed a knife to emphasize her point.
By season five, Candiace was locked in a messy feud with Monique Samuels that turned physical. Housewives’ fans are well aware of the infamous hair-pulling battle Monique and Candiace got into in front of the entire cast and crew. New mom Ashley was off in the bathroom when the actual fight went down, but she still made the decision to side with Monique and write a character reference letter against Candiace when she engaged in a legal battle against Monique.
Candiace felt betrayed and hurt by Ashley’s statement, but Ashley reminded Candiace that she had been violent towards her in the past, which prompted her to defend Monique’s honor.
Now as a mother of two, Ashley and Candiace have two completely different lives. While Ashley’s marriage is ending, and she is filing for divorce from Michael Darby due to cheating and groping rumors against him; Candiace is now in her own entanglement in which co-star Gizelle Bryant has accused her husband Chris Bassett of “making her feel uncomfortable” as the main plot of season six.
The three part-reunion of RHOP season six is set to resume with part three this Sunday, March 05, 2023, on Bravo at 8 pm EST. This is normally when we get to hear from the husbands, so this will be an interesting episode, we are sure!
