Diddy is suing NBC in court over what his lawyers are calling derogatory claims in their recent documentary. The jailed mogul is reportedly upset with the documentary and says it made false and harmful accusations. Diddy is suing NBC Universal as well as Peacock TV.
On Wednesday, Diddy filed a lawsuit in New York State, suing NBC Universal for the documentary titled “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy”. The trailer for the documentary was dropped on January 2 and the shows on Peacock TV.
In the legal document of the lawsuit filed by Mr Combs, he says that their claims are “unequivocally false” and “unverified conspiracy theories.” He is demanding at least $100 million in compensation.
One of the false claims included one of his trials where he was accused of having sex with minors, a case that is now settled. Another false claim in the documentary included his involvement in the deaths of Kim and Notorious B.I.G. Another claim that was false as L.A. County Coroner confirmed Kim’s death to be natural and detected no foul play.
According to Diddy, his representatives allegedly reached out to to NBC production team after the trailer was released to the public. However, the production team never responded. He claims the production filled the trailer with some false and defamatory statements of Mr. Combs.
“In making and broadcasting these falsehoods, among others, Defendants seek only to capitalize on the public’s appetite for scandal without any regard for the truth and at the expense of Mr. Combs’s right to a fair trial. Mr. Combs brings this lawsuit to hold Defendants accountable for the extraordinary damage their reckless statements have caused.”
