Doechii aka Swamp Princess is rapidly establishing herself as a major force in hip-hop and rap, fueled by viral hits, chart-topping songs, and Grammy recognition. To truly understand the artist behind the accolades, here are six facts about the Grammy Best Rap Album Winner, Doechii.

In case you ever wonder how Doechii got famous, her fame did not just happen overnight. Her viral track “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” significantly boosted her visibility to the online audience. Notably, her raw talent and distinctive style quickly garnered attention, leading to a record deal with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and Capitol Records.

Her track “What It Is” (ft. Kodak Black) went platinum and hit the Hot 100 in 2023. Doechii’s discography includes tracks like “Nissan Altima” and “Denial Is a River” among others. She has also made guest appearances on Sleepy Hallow’s “Anxiety” (2023) and Jennie’s “ExtraL” (2025).”

Doechii is of African American ethnicity. The Swap Princess parents are; mother, Celesia Moore, and father, rapper Snatcha Da Boss.While she was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, it gives her a strong connection to the Southern rap scene.

Meanwhile, Doechii’s height is reportedly around 5 feet 2 inches. The “What it is” star did a feature on “ExtraL” with Kpop star and Blackpink member, Jennie, and in a photo posted on IG, Jennie looked taller than Doechii. Jennie height is confirmed at 1.63cm (5.3cm), so that makes Doechii’s less than Jennie’s.

2. Why does Doechii have tape on her face?

Her distinctive look often includes tape on her face, a stylistic choice that she has explained as a form of self-expression and artistic statement, often linked to themes of vulnerability and raw emotion. Recently, Doechii told Vogue France that she sees face tape as a part of her costume, and it completes her look.

Doechii has been open about her bisexuality, embracing a seat in the LGBTQ+ community as a proud member. She said in an interview, “I always knew that I was queer, and I was bisexual. But I didn’t really feel comfortable talking about it, because nobody around me was gay.” She also mentioned how making friends made her more comfortable with her sexuality.

Additionally, she linked her first viral hit to the community. She said, “A lot of the LGBTQ community, especially the trans community, really embraced my sound for “Yucky Blucky,” and, you know, people found a lot of empowerment behind it, which was cool.”

Doechii is not currently married, and there are no known records of a past marriage. At this stage in her career, she appears to be fully dedicated to her music.

Doechii has in fact been a Grammy award winner. Jaylah Hickmon, aka Doechii won the Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2025. Also, she was nominated in three other categories including Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, Best Rap Performance, and Best New Artist.

Surprisingly, Doechii made history by winning Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, becoming the third woman to win this award, after Hill (with the Fugees) and Cardi B.
