Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer on January 7, 1976 in Portmore, Jamaica may be on the Mount Rushmore of Reggae artists. He started creating music in the 1990s and in 1993 released his debut single, “Weed Smokers.” Over the years he became extremely popular, but it almost feels as though prison time helped make him a legend.  Absence makes the heart fonder and fans of reggae music missed the sound of Vybz in the dancehall.  Here’s our list of Vybz Kartel songs for first time listeners and potential new fans, now that he’s back home.

15 Vybz Kartel Songs For First Time Listeners Or Longtime Fans

01. “Clarks” featuring Popcaan & Gaza Slim

Originally released in 2010, the song is a tribute to the shoes, highlighting the cultural significance of the brand in Jamaica.

02.  “Ramping Shop” featuring Spice

This record went triple platinum in the club.  It’s a song about romantic mischief.  It was originally released in 2009.
