Monday night (May 5th), the Met Gala celebrated African-American style and style makers at this year’s event. The 2025 theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style which basically explored dandyism. So you know we have to take a look at the best celebrity looks at Met Gala 2025.
Met Gala 2025 co-chairs were actor Colman Domingo, race car driver Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky, music producer Pharrell Williams and, of course, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
What is Dandyism??? The Met Gala 2025 Theme
Dandyism was mainly used by Black men during the 20s, 30s and 40s, and it was mainly highlighted by sharp suits and daring hats. The style seems to be making a comeback.
Black Dandyism was started back during slavery days when masters would dress their male servants in suits to show off their wealth, since then, it evolved to what we see today.
Not only are men gravitating toward that style again, but it is quite evident that women are too.
Many celebrities dazzled the crowd with their designer outfits and then there were some who dazzled with just their mere presence.
Best Celebrity Looks at Met Gala 2025
Here are just a few celebrities who caught our eye at the 2025 Met Gala.
Zendaya
Does she ever miss? She was giving vintage Diana Ross (whom we will get to) in her perfectly tailored white suit and white hat. According to People, her three-piece Louis Vuitton white suit was designed by Pharrell complete with a matching tie, wide-brimmed hat and sparkling Bulgari brooch pinned below her back collar. It went perfectly with her huge engagement ring (Zendaya is engaged to Spiderman co-star Tom Holland).

Diana Ross
Making her first appearance at this event in 20 years, the 81-year old did not disappoint. Ms. Ross wore a Ugo Mozie gown that featured an 18-foot train that required six people to help carry. On the train was embroidered with her children’s and grandchildren’s names.
Ross said this was completely unplanned and her son Evan had talked her into coming and we’re glad he did, she stole the show.

Colman Domingo
Co-chair Colman Domingo did not disappoint either. He first showed up on the red carpet wearing a bright blue pleated cape from Valentino who he is an ambassador for which featured an embellished collar which was a tribute to the late fashion journalist and former Vogue editor the late André Leon Talley who wore a similar look back in 2011.
But it was his second look that really captured our attention. When he took off the cape, it revealed a tailored Valentino suit with a polka dot necktie, a polka dot flower on his lapel and a windowpane plaid jacket teamed with gray trousers. Perfection.

Jodie Turner Smith
Another person who rarely misses at these kinds of events is Jodie Turner Smith. She wore a burgundy leather outfit and top hat that paid “homage to a portrait of Selina Lazevski, a Black Equestrian who lived during the Belle Époch in Paris and was photographed by Paul Nader in 1891,” according to Burberry who designed the suit.

Rihanna
Even before she stepped on the red carpet, Rihanna was making headlines when she announced that she would be expecting her third child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky but as usual her red carpet look killed. Her gray bustier with a black floor-length skirt and cropped black jacket and her shoes, were all designed by Marc Jacobs.

Rege’-Jean Page
While Zendaya was giving us angel, Bridgeton star Rege’-Jean Page was giving sexy devil dressed in red from head to foot. It wasn’t giving much dandyism, but was giving potential James Bond.

Couples who caught our attention were Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and his new wife Bry, New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, singer Ciara, and Savannah James the wife of LeBron James who couldn’t make it because of a knee injury he suffered during the NBA playoffs.

According to reports, the event raised $31 million, which is the most they’ve ever raised at this event.
