After over 30 years, CBS is bringing back morning soap operas. From the storyline to the cast to the drama, CBS is ready to keep you stuck to your screens with this new soap opera titled Beyond the Gates.
The cast of Beyond the Gates is making history as the first Black daytime soap in 35 years on CBS and Paramount+. The story is set to follow the Dupree family, a wealthy, affluent Black household that has built a name for itself in the Maryland suburb of Fairmont Crest.
The Beyond the Gates cast includes Tamara Tunie as Anita Dupree, Clifton Davis as Vernon Dupree, Maurice Johnson as Ted Richardson, Daphnee Duplaix as Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, and Brandon Claybon as Martin Richardson. Other cast members include Mike Manning as Bradley “Smitty” Smith, and Colby Muhammad as Katherine “Kat” Richardson, alongside others.
The show is set to air on weekdays 2-3 PM ET/1-2 PM PT on CBS. Viewers can also stream on Paramount+.
Meet the Cast of Beyond the Gates on CBS
Clifton Davis as Vernon Dupree
Vernon is a husband and father. He was also involved in politics, formerly serving as a senator. He is married to Anita and has two children, Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson and Dani Dupree. Clifton Davis’s character is portrayed as easy-going, benevolent, and a man of wisdom gathered from life experiences.
Daphnee Duplaix as Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson
Daphnee Duplaix plays a doctor, the child of Vernon and Anita Dupree. Her character, Dr. Nicole Dupree is a go-getter and benevolent like her father. Her kindness and empathy for others precede her. She is also married to a surgeon and might appear to have it all, but does she?
Karla Mosley as Dani Dupree
Also, a daughter of Vernon and Anita Dupree, she is a sister to Nicole. Her character is depicted as a “free-spirited”, carefree, stubborn individual. Unlike her sister, she is driven by passion. She seems to take control of her life, doing whatever she wants, which leads to her dropping out of school for a modeling career. She eventually quits modeling because of love.
Maurice Johnson as Ted Richardson
His character is also a doctor, like his wife, Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson. Despite being married for some years, their love is evergreen and unwavering. Their union produced two kids, Martin and Kat. Known to be good at what he does, he is popular at work as one of the best surgeons in the hospital.
Tamara Tunie as Anita Dupree
Tamara Tunie plays Anita Dupree, the beautiful wife of Vernon Dupree. Being raised on the streets of Chicago, she worked hard to make a name for herself, eventually becoming a popular artist. She is family-oriented, sacrificing a lot for her family and focusing on raising her daughters.
Colby Muhammad as Katherine ‘Kat’ Richardson
Colby Muhammad plays the granddaughter of Dr Vernon, Katherine ‘Kat’ Richardson. Being born with a silver spoon, Kat does not have a lot of financial worries, and being raised with a lot of love did not help.
Her parents, Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson and Ted Richardson know no restriction when it comes to Kat, regarding her as their miracle baby. She is self-aware of her privileged position and has high self-esteem.
Brandon Claybon as Martin Richardson
Brandon Claybon plays Martin Richardson, Kat’s older brother. He follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, former senator Vernon Dupree, and goes into politics. Just like Dani Dupree, he is free-spirited and openly comes out as gay. He is married with 2 adopted children. He is ambitious, aiming to be the first gay, married Black president.
