Morocco

It is known for its significant role in connecting Africa, Europe and the Middle East, but there’s more to it. The country’s history has played a significant role in its growth, claiming its place as one of the most beautiful and peaceful countries in North Africa.

1.  Volubilis, Morocco

Volubilis, an ancient Roman city, is a present-day UNESCO World Heritage site. It is well known for its well-preserved ruins, mosaics, and architecture. Furthermore, you can explore the remarkably preserved remains of a Roman city, including mosaics, temples, and public buildings, to enjoy the rich history of Morocco.

2.  Merzouga, Morocco

Merzouga, a small village in southeastern Morocco, is loved for its nearness to the Erg Chebbi dunes. It’s a popular starting point for desert adventures. Fun activities that can provide you with an unforgettable desert experience, including camel trekking and sandboarding. These sites offer a glimpse into Tunisia’s rich history, from the Punic era to the Roman Empire.

6. El Jem Amphitheatre

El Jem Amphitheatre, also known as Amphitheatre of Thusdrus, is regarded as a ruin that influenced Roman architecture. Its construction techniques like it’s complex system of corridors and stairways, which served as a model for architectural projects despite being built in the 3rd Century A.D. In addition, the theatre can hold 35,000 spectators and was initially used for gladiatorial contests, among others. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and regarded as one of the largest Roman amphitheaters in the world.

7. Roman ruins of Douggaa

The Roman ruins of Douggaa are a UNESCO World Heritage site, including a theater, temples, and houses. It is a well-preserved archaeological site. For music lovers, the Festival International de Dougga, also known as the Dougga Festival, is an annual historic event offering a unique experience. Plus, the acoustics in the ancient theatre are amazing! The 49th edition of the Festival International de Dougg was held on June 25 2025. The Dougga Festival features a variety of music genres, including classical, jazz, and traditional Tunisian music, and showcases talented artists.
