Grammy Award-nominated Hip-Hop veteran, Wale took his talents to Brooklyn on Wednesday January 15th to open up his Wow… That’s Crazy Tour.  The tour comes in support of his album of the same name, which he released back in early October.

In 2019, Wale was on the road for his Everything Is Fine tour, but he’s right back on these stages celebrating this latest album, right through April.  The tour includes stops in Europe in addition to the States.

The night started with a performance from Las Vegas bred MMG newcomer, Yowda who performed a quick set as fans got settled into Brooklyn Steel.  The relatively new venue in the heart of Brooklyn was the perfect launch spot for the show as its quickly becoming the go to venue for Hip-Hop in the city.  Yowda impressed with his diverse set, managing to fit in a song for just about everyone in attendance.  I look forward to seeing more of what’s in store the rapper as the year continues.

Longtime Wale DJ, DJ Money, was on hand next, for one of the most captivating DJ sets I’ve seen.  The DMV native was able to bounce from new New York anthems to throwbacks to a bit of R&B karaoke that had the entire place singing along to Keshia Cole’s “Love” and Donell Jones’ “Where I Wanna Be”.

But the night belonged to Wale. Folarin reminded fans of his long history of hits, taking listeners on a journey through his 6 albums and even his mixtapes.  Of course he made sure to sprinkle cuts from Wow… That’s Crazy over his hour-plus performance.  The classic cuts included, “90210,” “No Hands,” “That Way,” “The Matrimony,” and “Bad,” among others.  The set began with a performance of the classic, “Lotus Flower Bomb.” New album songs included, “BGM,” “Sue Me,” “Love… (Her Fault),” “Poledancer” and “Routine”.

The first night of the Wale Wow… That’s Crazy tour couldn’t be complete without a performance of the Gold certified lead single, “On Chill,” which Wale performed as a bit of an encore after originally leaving the stage.  The crowd erupted for the song, which surely goes down as one of his biggest singles to date.
