Chris Brown: Vindicated or A Bigger Target?

Chris Brown was at one time Public Enemy Number 1 and many would say deservedly so, I am not here to give an opinion today, more so to raise questions about where the rollercoaster which he calls a career will take him now. Last week, Chris Brown was afforded the opportunity to be a part of the biggest night in music, the Grammy’s; Arguably the pinnacle of one’s career, a mere nomination speaks volumes to an arists success and catalog.  He was awarded the R &B  Album of the year for F.A.M.E. which was touted as his comeback album, subsequent to the big fall out that came with the Rihanna scandal.

Villified many times over, it would seem that Chris Brown has received a breath of fresh air, accepted once again by the majority of his peers as well as experts, as evident by his Grammy and inclusion on award shows.  It was only a short time ago when he was bannished from the same events that now embrace and glorify him.  His hard work is not to be debated, he has overcame in a musical sense sure #careersuicide, but did he really? I heard it said that “controversy sells” (Jadakiss) and I am inclined to believe so. It is common practice for PR campaigns to include buzz-worthy occurence, most notablyon the controversial side. But in this case, I am hesitant to believe that this was all part of the blueprint.

Grammy in hand, Chris Brown took to twitter recently to figuratively stick it to his nay-sayers:

“Strange how we pick and choose who to hate! Let me ask u this, our society is full of rappers (which I listen to) who have sold drugs (poisoning), but yet we glorify them and imitate everything they do.”(via twitter)

He goes on to question the choice of his critics to not accept his repentance, and attempts at growth and the maturation process, which he has undertook since the incident occured:

“Right before the worlds eyes a man shows how he can make a Big mistake and learn from it, but still has to deal with day to day hatred!… HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That’s the ultimate F*#K OFF!”(via twitter)

I guess a “LOOK AT ME NOW” is in order. However, there are still those that wish him nothing but strife. The internet is currently buzzing after the release of the full police report of the incident has surfaced. How convenient is that?  Let’s see what happens after this.  Will he continue to be embraced or will this be cause for further alarm, and a return to his position on the blacklist?  For now Chris Brown’s new single, “Turn Up the Music” is currently in the Top 10 on iTunes, while plans for the release of a new album Fortune are set for this Spring.  Plus his video directorial debut for Wale & Big Sean’s “Slight Work” is MTV’ Jams’ “Jam of the Week.”  And if that wasn’t enough, he sent Rihanna a Happy Birthday tweet hours before the release of their “Cake” Remix.

Until further notice its #teambreezygrammy and the motto is:
