And the award for dumbest Twitter beef goes to … Stephen Hill & Waka Flocka! Nicki Minaj may have been the night’s big winner at the BET Hip-Hop Awards on Saturday night in Atlanta, but it’s BET’s EVP of Entertainment & Music Programming Stephen Hill and his Twitter beef with Waka Flocka that has people talking. Hill was angry with the Southern rapper after he performed the wrong song while on stage during the pre-taped show. The BET Hip-Hop Awards Twitter beef started after Stephen Hill drew first blood with his initial tweets:

Waka. Flacka. Flamed. Out.

BET Hip-Hop Awards. The show was going so well…and then Waka Flak-ed. Yeah. I said it.

RT @RapRadarDotComthen why have him on the show? @StephenGHill?<like it or not,he’s popular. Wanted to give a shot #mistake

RT@WakaFlocka1017: I KICK ASS I DONT KISS ASS< my brother, you’ll demolish me in a fight. Not a question. You’re younger, bigger, stronger. Not trying to fist fight. I just ask that you respect the show. That’s all. I respect your popularity. It’s why we asked you to perform. We had a GREAT look for you. Flames on stage. Great lighting. My man Jesse (producer) was on it with your look. We’ll put the rehearsal on BET.com so folks can see what it was supposed to be. Then you decided to change the track without telling us…and jumping in the audience…without telling us…was disrespect.

We put a lot of resources into making all of our shows hot and big. We want to give ALL forms of hip-hop a shot to shine on a big stage. The BET Hip-Hop Awards, like it or not, is the single most expensive show on TV that focuses on Hip-Hop music. We take pride in providing platforms for and elevated levels of production to Hip-Hop music in our shows; esp. BET HipHop Awards. Massive respect to those that understand our love of music…and quite frankly sometimes take advantage of it. By that I mean that…

…We’ve had shows that go over budget because the artist has a vision and we’ll try VERY hard to match it…and sometimes matching means $ Because at the end of the day, we want to support artists and exhibit Black Musical Art as best we can. We aren’t perfect, but.. …any shortcoming is NEVER due to lack of trying. We just ask that artists treat our show with respect…as we make ever effort to… …respect their desires and process. Means everything. I admit. I love what I do. I respect artists interested in artistry… …and I’ve OFTEN said I’m the luckiest guy in the world. Loved shows from the womb. The spectacle. The process. Respect. Much respect. All that said (I know I’m rambling): you ain’t gotta like our shows, but know 1) <3 in right place and 2) if you gonna be on one, respect it

Not to be left behind in the BET Hip-Hop Awards Twitter beef, Waka Flocka got his tweet jabs in as well.

I KICK ASS AINT NOOOOO WAY N HELL I’LL KISS IT ASS

The sad thing is that apparently, this BET Hip-Hop Awards Twitter beef could have been avoided with a calm phone call. Apparently, Flocka’s DJ played the wrong song.

@StephenGHill. It wasn’t @WakaFlocka1017 fault I. Dj lovedinero play the wrong track ur staff @ BET said we was going 2 do it again don’t blame him he jus went with the music

If that’s true, then Mr. Hill acted rashly as he fell victim to the lures of airing one’s grievances on Twitter. However, he later tweeted that he’d like to resolve the situation.

@WakaFlocka1017 let’s you and me talk. Bring your manager. I should NOT have sent that first text…but there’s some learning here. You in?

Let’s hope the guys settle things and leave the Twitter drama to the eighth-grade Rihanna and Justin Bieber fans.
