It’s been five months since Young Thug was arrested as part of a RICO investigation, which put the YSL Gang in the forefront of the Atlanta District Attorney. The indictment puts Young Thug as the gang’s leader, helping the criminal enterprise with money made from his songs. Thug’s protégé Gunna was also arrested, facing just one count, but still denied bail on several occasions. The latest reports, doesn’t directly involve that pair of rappers, but indicates that Atlanta district attorney, Fani T. Willis, Atlanta’s first Black woman D.A. is just getting started. Her latest target: A Playboi Carti Homixide Gang Rico Case.
The report was revealed by journalist George Chidi of The Atlanta Objective via several tweets on October 12th. The revelation was made as part of a series he’s doing on Atlanta jails. Chidi revealed, “The DA’s office confirmed to me on Friday that Homixide is one of several street gangs on a road to a racketeering charge. I’ll be writing about that soon.”
He continued in an ensuing tweet: “Homixide is connected to Playboi Carti and nominally to Future, a big name. They’ve had an ongoing rivalry with Henxhmen. That is, two Bloods sets shooting at one another. There’s a trail of dead and jailed rappers all through this beef.”
He doubled down with a tweet sharing just one member of the Homixide gang who is currently locked up facing a murder charge.

Fans were able to quickly make links between Playboi Carti and the Homixide gang, sharing tweets of lyrics that may be used to implicate the rapper. If the fans can be that quick with it, it probably wouldn’t take the D.A. long to make these connections either.

Playboi Carti was part of the 2017 XXL Freshman class, the same class as PnB Rock.
While Future is also mentioned here, George is clear that Future would be lesser involved. But there is a chance he ends up with one count if the Playboi Carti Homixide Gang Rico Case does move forward.
As of now, these are all reports and nothing is true until an indictment, but the D.A. has made it clear that she is going over rap crews and gangs. This might be an obvious next case to pursue.
Jay-Z has been trying to ban rap lyrics from being used against rappers in the court of law. California became the first state to pass the RAP Act in October. Georgia has not been as kind to the idea of passing the act.
