Survival of the Thickest, a new Netflix comedy series starring comedian and actress Michelle Buteau, premiered on July 13th. Last year, Netflix said they would adapt Michelle Buteau’s Survival of the Thickest into an eight-part series for television. Michelle Buteau, a stand-up comedian, and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, a writer and producer known for her work on the sitcom New Girl, were the brains behind the series’ creation. SYNOPSIS The resilience of a woman is tested after she catches her partner in bed with another woman. Mavis, a NYC fashion stylist, discovers her man’s infidelity and in the wake of a shocking heartbreak decides to take a vacation with her two closest friends, Khalil and Marley. There are moments when your closest friends are all you require. Her friendship with her two close friends is examined in Survival of the Thickest. The cast of the comedy series includes Michelle Bureau as Mavis, Tone Bell as Khalil, Tasha Smith as Marley, Liza Treyger as Jade, Taylor Selé as Jacque, Marouane Zotti as Luca, Anissa Felix as India, Garcelle Beauvais as Natasha Karina, Anthony Michael Lopez as Bruce, Peppermint as Peppermint, Michelle Visage as Avery, Sarah Cooper as Sydney, and Allan K Washington as Trent. Starting Thursday, July 13, 2023, each of the eight episodes of Survival of the Thickest will be available to stream on Netflix.

Michelle Buteau as Mavis
Mitchelle plays the role of a black, plus-size NYC stylist in her late thirties. Mavis, who is just separated from Jacque, her husband. She finds herself in the unanticipated position of having to reconstruct her life at the age of 38. This time around, with the assistance of her girlfriends, she intends to handle things on her terms, but in a new way. Tone Bell as Khalil
Tone Bell plays one of Mavis’ best friends, Khalil. Khalil works as an art instructor and is a key instrumental in getting her life back on track after a devastating relationship. After falling in love with one of his students, he is beginning to reevaluate his position on love and commitment, even though he has never been one for any of those things. Tasha Smith as Marley
Marley is a wonderful buddy of Mavis’s who is strong in defending her friends. In addition to that, she has achieved a great deal of success in her job in the financial sector. But in terms of romantic relationships, she is still learning the ropes. Marley remains steadfast in her belief that Mavis will find happiness. Taylor Selé as Jacque
Taylor plays Mavis’s spouse, a fashion photographer on the verge of ruining their five-year commitment when he’s caught having an affair. He decides to alter his behavior despite the numerous temptations that await him at work because he is constantly in the company of models. Is it possible that he might win back his girlfriend and amend his one-time mistake? Liza Treyger as Jade
Liza plays Mavis’s eccentric roommate, Jade. Following Mavis’s split up from Jacque, Mavis, and Jade move in together, and they bring their filth to Brooklyn. Neither Marley nor Khalil can ultimately make themselves at home at Mavis’s new residence. Meanwhile, Jade is never absent from the house, but in her kind and kooky manner, she is constantly involved in whatever Mavis is doing.
