With the release of his latest single, “I Wonder Why,” Rick Ross continues his rebound from his scandal earlier this year, focusing on the music. I Wonder Why is his next step towards putting the past behind him. It was rumored that the track will be featured on his Mastermind album or on the Self Made Vol. 3 compilation. Turns out Ross ended up leaving I Wonder Why as just another single.
In the track Ross seemingly refers to the past and the traumatic experiences that being a large rapper brings. He mentions the BMW that was used in the attempt to silence his career forever was used and refers a lot to his “brothers” and businesses they built up despite the troubles of a young black male trying to make it. His inspiration for this song was the tragic event that led to the unfortunate death of Trayvon Martin.
