Soulja Boy Gun Charges Jeopardize His Freedom, Chris Brown Fight
Soulja Boy has found himself in some pretty hot water. In December of 2016, the rapper was arrested for violating his probation. He was apparently threatening people online with a gun, and as a felon he isn’t supposed to have a gun at all! Those charges aren’t even as bad as the latest Soulja Boy gun charges.
The charges in December were quickly dropped in less than a week, after he posted bail. “I am looking forward to focusing back on the music and new business for 2017,” the SODMG rapper said in a statement at the time. Well unfortunately, it looks like he won’t be able to focus on music for a while.
In December, cops found guns in Soulja Boy’s home. TMZ reports that at least one of the guns found was stolen from a police car. He also had a Mini Draco AR-15, which is illegal in the state of California. So he’s been hit with two felonies: being a felon in possession of a firearm, as well as possession of an assault weapon. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property, the police department’s stolen Glock, prosecutors said.
If convicted, Soulja Boy could face four years in prison, maybe more. This news comes just after his proposed boxing match with R&B singer Chris Brown.
Back in 2014 Soulja Boy was arrested during a traffic stop. He wasn’t the driver but police found a concealed weapon. The Love & Hip-Hop: Hoolywood star was convicted of carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle and sentenced to two years probation. The probation sentence was scheduled to end in December.
It doesn’t look as if any proposed boxing matches are going to be happening anytime soon, unless these charges are also dropped.
