A ‘Black-ish’ Spin-off Starring Yara Shahidi Said To Be On The Way

Black-ish SpinOff Will Star Rising Actress Yara Shahidi

After almost three successful seasons, ABC is reportedly planning a  Black-ish spinoff, starring Yara Shahidi. Black-ish, the comedic sitcom–starring Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, centers a wealthy advertising executive, Andre Johnson (Anderson), and his wife, Rainbow Johnson (Ellis). As Andre realizes the disconnect that their high-end lifestyle has caused, he sets out on a mission, to ‘establish a sense of culture identity’ back into his upper-middle-class family. The sitcom premiered back in September of 2014 and has since managed to rake in millions of viewers, worldwide. While touching on thought-provoking issues within the African-American community, Black-ish has taken modern day television to another level.

However, if you thought you’d seen the last of the Johnson family, you have not. According to sources, creator and executive producer Kenya Barris is aiming towards a spin-off. The spin-off will follow Shahidi’s character–one-fourth of the Johnson kids, Zoey Johnson, and her life at college. This should be interesting!

Though there are not many details surrounding the new sitcom right now, Barris is said to be currently working alongside ABC Studios to produce the official pilot. The pilot is supposedly being introduced during a spring episode of Black-ish.
Congratulations to the beautifully talented, Yara Shahidi! A young actress who is truly doing great things.

Will you be tuning in?
