A couple years ago, back in 2017, Teri Woods brought her breakout novel, True To The Game to the big screen. The film eventually had quite the run on Netflix and has been a highly buzzed about film. While there were early rumors that there had to be a part two, there were no confirmations. Now, not only do we have confirmation, but we also have a release date for the film AND a trailer for True To The Game 2.
Erica Peeples reprises her role of Gena, while Audra Fuller, and Vivica Fox also return. Newcomers include Jeremy Meeks, Rotimi, Tamar Braxton, Niatia ‘Lil Mama’ Kirkland, Faith Evans, Starletta DuPois, and Waka Flocka Flame.
True To The Game 2 is expected to make it to theaters on April 10, 2020.
In the fist film, Gena, a young girl from the projects in Philly, meets Quadir, a slick talking New York millionaire working with the Cartel. Quadir was played by Columbus Short. In this second book, Gena is back to take on the streets and get revenge for Quadir’s murder.
Official synopsis:
TRUE TO THE GAME II, picks up a year after the first installment of True to the Game, following the lives of the characters affected by Quadir’s murder. Separating herself from Philly’s dangerous scene, Gena has reinvented herself as a journalist, living and working in NYC. Quickly growing in her company Gena is sent on assignment to LA for a career changing story. Though Gena is far from home, her life in Philly seems to always make an appearance. Someone from Quadir’s circle has avenged his death with a hit on Jerrell’s crew members, reigniting another war between the two crews. Jerrell is determined to get paid by any means necessary and he’ll start with Gena.
True To the Game 2 is Directed by Jamal Hill. It is written by Preston Whitmore and produced by Manny Halley, Rodney Turner II and Yolanda Halley.
