There are so many people struggling to maintain a healthy weight that even with exercising, dieting, and eating a healthy diet, they will still not lose weight. If you are one among the many struggling with weight and diet issues, then you must read this article to the end. One thing to note is that there are so many benefits associated with maintaining a healthy weight. Over half of obese people admit that losing weight can greatly help to improve their lives.

Now, feeling hungry is a natural process of the body telling you that you need to fuel up. However, if you find yourself constantly craving food, then there’s a problem. You may be having a higher metabolism or it could be that there are other underlying factors. There’s a higher chance of gaining too much weight if you’re constantly stacking up even when you’re not hungry. And this is where appetite suppressants come in. There are higher chances that you’ve heard or read about them and are probably wondering what they are. In this expository article, we’ll be shedding more light on the efficacy of appetite suppressants. Do they work? Here’s what you need to know.

What Are Appetite Suppressants?

To better understand what appetite suppressants are, it’s important to first and foremost understand where your appetite comes from. When you’re hungry, your stomach releases hormone ghrelin into the bloodstream and straight to the brain where it triggers the nerve cells to boost your appetite. Your appetite can also be stimulated by appealing and enticing foods. This comes from another hormone that plays a crucial role in your appetite, the hormone leptin. While the conditions in your stomach can trigger your appetite levels to spike, it’s also about a response to stimuli and chemical triggers.

Before you get lost in the weeds, appetite suppressants are drugs that are designed to suppress or curb your hunger/appetite. They come in various forms including pills, tablets, or injections. But in line with the recommendations by the guys at https://nutritiondietnews.com/best-appetite-suppressant/, you’ll want to know of the best appetite suppressants that exist as well as to conduct extensive research on the uses and benefits of appetite suppressants. It’s also important to consult with your physician or nutritionist before taking just any type of appetite suppressant. Your physician knows you best and they are in a better position to recommend the right appetite suppressants.

How do Appetite Suppressants Work?

As earlier mentioned, your appetite is a response to stimuli and chemical triggers. Your brain plays a crucial role in your appetite levels and appetite suppressants, as the name suggests, will work by suppressing your appetite. How? You might ask. In layman’s terms, they work by tricking your brain into thinking or believing that your stomach is full. This, they do by increasing your serotonin levels while at the same time suppressing the other appetite hormones; leptin and ghrelin. Serotonin is your feel-good hormone. Meaning that an increase in serotonin levels will automatically change your moods, giving you a satiated feeling. This means that you’ll not feel hungry and you’ll most likely eat less.

Are Appetite Suppressants Safe?

While there exist safer appetite suppressants out there, you’ll need to be extra cautious of counterfeit products. There are countless appetite suppressant products out there that promise results but will not deliver. These are all the more reasons to first consult with your physician before taking just any appetite suppressants. Fortunately, appetite suppressants can only be prescribed by a qualified doctor. But this doesn’t mean that there aren’t over-the-counter appetite suppressants that you can easily get without a doctor’s prescription.

Appetite suppressants are not for everyone! While there are still ongoing clinical tests in this area, most physicians will want to know about a patient’s existing medical conditions, age, and allergies before prescribing appetite suppressants. Among the conditions that can affect the use of appetite suppressants include:

  • H.B.P (high blood pressure)
  • Glaucoma
  • Heart diseases
  • Epilepsy
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • A history of alcohol and drug abuse
  • Overactive thyroid

Appetite Suppressants and Weight Loss

Appetite suppressants are not the ultimate weight loss solution because not everyone with an increased appetite will put on weight. Appetite suppressants should not be a replacement for an active lifestyle, physical activity, a healthy lifestyle, and healthy eating habits. As earlier mentioned, appetite suppressants can only be prescribed by a qualified doctor. This means that they are a comprehensive option to those with difficulties in curbing their appetites.

Finally, if you feel that your appetite is conflicting with your weight loss program, then you must consult with your doctor. They are in a better position to point you on the right path and most likely, prescribe for you the best appetite suppressants that work.
