What a difference a day makes.  As we previously reported, Nick Cannon was in the hot-seat after being dropped by ViacomCBS for making “Anti-Semitic” comments during his June 23rd episode of Cannon’s Class with former Public Enemy member Richard Griffin aka Professor Griff. Initially Nick was adamant that he was the one that deserved an apology from ViacomCBS and that ViacomCBS was “now on the wrong side of history”.  But, before the day was over, Nick Cannon apologized and released a statement acknowledging that he used “hateful propoganda and stereotypical rhetoric that pained another community.”  It was a bold step for Cannon.

Nick has since released a couple of statements on social media, doubling down on his apology and clearing the air for those offended.

Additionally, this morning, Nick Cannon announced that he would be stepping away from his morning radio show.

Morning radio family. I have decided to take some time away from my radio show so I can commit myself to deeper, more thorough reflection and education.

I will use this time to establish an action plan towards real, impactful change and advocacy aimed at bringing people together.

The Nick Cannon apology was not the only one in the last 24 hours.

After initially sending out a tweet in support of Nick Cannon, NBA powerhouse and future Hall of Famer, Dwayne Wade had to quickly delete his social media support, following it up with an apology of his own.

I want to clarify my now deleted tweet. I was not supporting or condoning what Nick Cannon specifically said, but I had expressed my support of him owning the content and brand he helped create ??

I was too quick to respond without being fully informed about his hurtful anti-Semitic remarks. As you all know I have ZERO tolerance for any hate speech!

The one thing the Nick Cannon apology has helped with for now is his hosting gig on Fox’s The Masked Singer.  Deadline is reporting that he will be allowed to keep the hosting gig and he won’t be removed.

In a statement Fox said:

Nick has sincerely apologized, and quickly taken steps to educate himself and make amends. On that basis and given a belief that this moment calls for dialogue, we will move forward with Nick and help him advance this important conversation, broadly.

Editor’s note:  We acknowledge that Nick Cannon still has a point of contention that he can make a claim to regain ownership of his Wild ‘N Out brand.  However, we don’t know what deal transpired to him selling his ownership of said brand.  (Safe to assume that it wasn’t stolen from him since he was still in business with ViacomCBS before all this).  Should he be allowed to purchase the brand back or make a deal to possibly take the show to another network?  For sure, I think he should.

He doesn’t have the leverage now though.
