Drama is never too far when it comes to the DeBarge family. The latest incident involves Chico DeBarge aka Jonathan Arthur “Chico” DeBarge, one of the youngest siblings on the DeBarge family tree. It is well documented that Chico, like many of his siblings has battled with alcoholism and drug use in the past, so the latest arrest doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. The shock comes from reports that Chico tried to impersonate his brother James DeBarge according to the Chico DeBarge arrest reports, provided by TMZ.
The Chico DeBarge arrest actually took place on January 13th in Burbank, California. The singer was riding near a shopping center with no headlights on, in a car without license plates. He had two female passengers in the car. When he was stopped cops found heroin and methamphetamines on him during a search. Chico didn’t have identification on him, but he allegedly told officers that he was James DeBarge.
He was properly identified as Chico DeBarge once at the station and was held on charges of drug possession, DUI and false impersonation.
The Chico DeBarge arrest led to 9 days in jail until he finally made bail on Friday January 22nd.
This is the third documented Chico DeBarge arrest for drug possession, including arrests in 2007 and 2019.
