Social media users are cool with the idea that The Weeknd is considering a stage name change to Abel. The news broke out when the star took to his Twitter page to announce his intentions.  The idea of The Weeknd name change is an interesting idea because true Weeknd fans from the beginning have been calling Abel since the beginning.

maybe pull a YE and just legally change my name to ABEL. no last name. Like Madonna or Cher or Prince. I don’t know it seems like a lot.

— The Weeknd (@theweeknd) April 3, 2022

He did not think about this from the blues; he might have considered it for a long time. However, his thoughts were out after engaging in a lively tweet from a fan.

The music star, whose actual name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, has been active with the stage name The Weekend for over a decade now. While it might seem uneasy for his fans to get used to his new stage name, the reverse is the case when considering these comments.

I been calling you Abel. I tatted “Abel Tesfaye” on my arm & the real fans know who it is when they see it 🤞🏽🤣 https://t.co/xYz61EsboW

The Weeknd sounds to formal when we address you informaly. So Abel feels like we’re talking to our best friend

Nonetheless, some of his fans still feel like the idea of The Weeknd name change is a joke. As for the fans who love being the detective, they think someone might be hacking his account. Hence, they are demanding a selfie as a means of authentication.

The Weeknd might seem to have been messing around with his fans, as he is known to be friendly. However, His reply to John Legend’s comment tells us that we are 90 percent close to seeing The Weekend name change come to fruition.
