Michael Jackson Was found Innocent 17 Years Ago Today

In 1993, Michael Jackson was accused of abusing a child of a family friend, per thethings.com. After this first accusation, more children stepped forward saying the same thing. Michael Jackson was then accused in 2005 of the same allegations. The trial that proved Michael Jackson’s innocence and the trial that fans are celebrating today (June 13th) is known as The People of the State of California v. Michael Joe Jackson.

According to the New York Times, “Mr. Jackson was prosecuted on 10 felony counts – four of child molesting, one of attempted child molesting, four of administering alcohol to aid in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy to commit child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion. Together, the charges carried a maximum possible sentence of more than 18 years in prison. Mr. Jackson was accused of molesting the boy in February or March 2003 at his 2,700-acre Neverland Valley ranch. Prosecutors said the singer had plied the youth with alcohol in order to abuse him and had later conspired to intimidate and restrict the freedom of the boy, who is now 15, and his mother to keep them away from the news media. But the verdict clearly showed that the jury had found the testimony of the accuser’s family – the boy, his mother, and his brother – to be not credible.”

Fans Use #ApologizeToMichaelJackson to Mark 17th Anniversary of Michael Jackson’s Innocence

I once heard someone say that there are no fans like Michael Jackson fans. Although the #Beyhive gives Michael Jackson fans a run for their money, I would have to agree with that sentiment. It’s been 17 years since Michael Jackson was found innocent of all charges and fans will not let anyone forget how the media and the accusers mistreated Michael Jackson.

I don’t see as many Black people in my mentions using the hashtag but it’s going viral with people chiming in about Michael Jackson’s legacy and innocence. Last year the hashtag was #MichaelJacksonInnocent but this year fans are using #ApologizeToMichaelJackson.

“Please keep an open mind and let me have my day in court. I deserve a fair trial like every other American citizen. I will be acquitted and vindicated when the truth is told.”- Michael Jackson. #ApologizeToMichaelJackson pic.twitter.com/FcVAPvXVqf

Who in the world does this? Sues Michael Jackson, wants to make his own album, and wants the songs to address topics of his son’s alleged abuse? #ApologizeToMichaelJackson https://t.co/GKzGPGqPUM

So despite allegedly learning that Jodan had been abused on July 16, more than a month later Evan still had not gone to authorities with this complaint.

In fact, not one accuser MJ ever had went to law officers. They all found civil attorneys instead.#ApologizeToMichaelJackson

Ultimately, 5 search warrants were done. One at Neverland, one at Hayvenhurst, one at his condo and doctor’s offices. No corroborating evidence was found. #ApologizeToMichaelJackson pic.twitter.com/81eLWf2nhR

When people finally start to understand the negative impacts of false allegations, they will realize that entire families are affected for generations. The barbaric mob mentality is terrorism against innocent people. #MJInnocent #ApologizeToMichaelJackson pic.twitter.com/tyoCp9N0mK

When MJ was acquitted on all charges 17 years ago, the media had not only refused to provide a truthful coverage of the trial, they also twisted the clear and evidence-based verdict into their own, sensationalist narrative.#ApologizeToMichaelJacksonhttps://t.co/kbtB27ZvKz

These tweets are just a small fraction of what happened to Michael Jackson during his lifetime. And the media purposefully twisted the story for profit. They crucified him, with headlines such as this one. #ApologizeToMichaelJackson pic.twitter.com/JaGJLeA6wI

If that splotch had matched, why did 2 separate grand juries refuse to indict Michael Jackson? A match would have been solid physical evidence. #ApologizeToMichaelJackson

We celebrate him being vindicated, but we should not forget the pain of what he went through. He hardly ate or slept. He was destroyed. His heart was hurt. And people kept bullying him even after. People did that to him! 💔 #ApologizeToMichaelJackson #VindicationDay pic.twitter.com/5i9U6TuRcG

17 years ago, Michael Jackson was exonerated 14 times after a 3.5 month criminal trial that defied all sense of logic.

Here’s my original vindication special from 2005 that chronicles that day & the media’s sensationalism.https://t.co/q53EMAcLCY#ApologizeToMichaelJackson 👨‍⚖️

Its high time people realize the fact that Michael Jackson was the victim of false accusations and slander fueled by the racist media #MJInnocent #ApologizeToMichaelJackson

If Wade was really abused by MJ then why did he perform with Janet Jackson at the 2009 VMAS the Michael Jackson tribute? #ApologizeToMichaelJacksonpic.twitter.com/MCvcVBjDv9

Reminder that child p*rn was never found at Neverland. 70 sheriffs raided his house to carry out a search warrant. If it was found, MJ would have gone to prison in a heartbeat because it’s a federal crime. His collection of adult hetero porn was found.#ApologizeToMichaelJackson pic.twitter.com/rX8ItyUeaD
