A new series featuring an all-black cast is coming to your screens this December titled Riches. The Amazon Prime Video, Riches season 1 is written by Abby Ajayi, the story editor of How to Get Away With Murder.

Riches season 1 synopsis

Riches centers on the Richards family, a wealthy, affluent, and incredibly successful family who lost their father. Hugh Quarshie’s character, Stephen Richards, passes away unexpectedly, shattering the family’s world and placing the future of his company in jeopardy.

Following his death, his children from different marriages are about to clash as they fight for dominance as his business hangs in the balance. More chaos unravels when he wills the company to only 2 of his children, meanwhile, everyone wants a share. What will happen?

The cast of Riches season 1 is Deborah Ayorinde, Emmanuel Imani, Hugh Quarshie, Sarah Niles, Adeyinka Akinrinade, Ola Orebiyi, and Nneka Okoye.

Riches Season 1 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 2. It will be available on ITV in the UK, and on Prime Video in the US, CA, AU, NZ, Nordics, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Casting in Them and Truth Be Told, the British Nigerian actress also acted in Fatherhood. Akinrinade was nominated at the Independent Spirit Awards 2022 for Best Female Performance in a Scripted Series for her role in Them.

Sarah Niles as Claudia Richards

Sarah Niles plays a daughter of Stephen Richards. For her role in Ted Lasso, she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2022 Emmy Awards. At the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards, Niles won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Ola Orebiyi as Gus Richards

Ola Orebiyi is known for his role in Cherry.  He started his career in 2010 with the movie and made his TV debut through an episode of BBC’s Upstart Crow. The Nigerian actor is an ALRA alumnus and he graduated in 2017.
