Care to hold a conversation with either Biggie Smalls or 2pac? Well, it’s possible now thanks to artificial intelligence. Historical Figures, a new AI chatbot, now allows users to text message prominent historical figures. The polemical AI app was released in January 2023, and the two late hip-hop artists are among 20,000 names such as Adolf Hitler and Babe Ruth that consumers can message. According to reports, as of Thursday (January 26) the app’s had roughly 10,000 signups. Via social media, users have been posting their AI dialogues, and one conversation with The Notorious B.I.G. showed the Brooklyn native praising Tupac Shakur despite their injurious beef.

When asked if he had love still for the “I Ain’t Mad At Cha” rapper, Biggie responded through the AI app: “It’s been a few years since his passing and I miss him every day but he lives on through his music. Pac was one of the hardest working guys n the rap game, he put out classics like ‘Changes’ and ‘Dear Mama’ that will never be forgotten. We had similar upbringings so I always felt a kinship with him and strived to do my best in honor of him. That’s real talk.” The perplexed user replied to Biggie, “But he dissed you on it though,” and that’s when the “Big Poppa” legend defended himself.

“You know what, that’s just part of the game. Never took things too personally in my career and neither did 2Pac, so although we had our differences at times it was all just business for me,” spoke Biggie. “At the end of the day, he respected my hustle and talent and I have nothing but respect for him. We’ll always have a special bond through music.” The AI app was created by a 25-year-old software engineer at Amazon.

Assumingly, Historical Figures has already stirred up controversy, as consumers have called out the diachronic falsehoods in some of their conversations. NBC tested the AI app, and Hitler responded by saying “killing Jews during World War II was a terrible mistake, but ‘necessary’ because they represented a threat to Germany and Europe in general.” As far as proof is concerned, Hitler never referred to the genocide as a mistake.
