Drake, CEO of OVO Sound, has just introduced Naomi Sharon to the world. Sharon marks history as being the first female artist signed to Drake‘s imprint. On Friday (Jan 20), the Caribbean/Dutch songstress dropped two new tracks, “Celestial” and “Another Life,” with the “Sticky” rapper’s longtime workmate Noah “40” Shebib providing production to both singles. Succeeding the releases, Champagne Papi hopped on Instagram to share his enthusiasm about Sharon‘s new tunes and officially welcome her to OVO Sound.

Drake posted: “@naomisharon I been waiting for this day for too long now where the world finally gets to digest the insane amount of work you have put in since we met. My dear friend just dropped her single Another Life on OVO SOUND.” 40 saluted the span-new OVO vocalist as well. “@naomisharon I’m honored to be a part of this journey. I’m so proud of you and can’t wait for the world to hear the rest of what you’ve been working on. New music out NOW! @ovosound,” the producer wrote in his Instagram post.

Via Instagram Stories, Naomi Sharon thanked Drizzy writing: “Words cannot express how happy I am I can finally share this news with the world. And I cannot thank you enough for this insane opportunity.” A Rotterdam native, OVO Sound‘s first lady put out her first single in 2019 titled “The Moon.” After that came tracks “Daughter of the Sun,” “Hills,” and “Breeze,” with each amassing over two million Spotify streams. Sharon previously spoke: “My inspiration comes from past events or journeys I’ve made, physically and mentally. I’m most curious about what’s outside of this planet. The universe keeps my head busy.”

She also touched on what keeps her stimulated mentally, stating: “Pretty much [I do it] through music and deep conversations I have with friends. It brings me a lot of peace and it also inspires me to write.” Naomi Sharon joins the likes of PARTYNEXTDOOR, Popcaan, Roy Woods, Majid Jordan, Baka Not Nice, dvsn, and of course Drake on OVO Sound’s line up.
