The victory of “Everything Everywhere All at Once” at the 95th Academy Awards marked a milestone for Asian talent in front of and behind the camera. The film won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, and Best Supporting Actress for Jamie Lee Curtis. The success of the film demonstrates that the Academy Awards is willing to make bold, unconventional choices and embrace movies that differ from typical Oscar bait. The film was produced by A24.

Asian actors are pulling many firsts, as it will be remembered Jackie Chan remains one of the few Asian actors to feature in gambling movies, a scene dominated by American actors despite Asia being the bedrock of the casino industry. It is worth noting that games initially played in Asia have found their way into European and American markets, such as Sic Bo, a popular casino game originating from ancient China. Live dealer sic bo is a variation where players can participate remotely using real dice and a live croupier without the need to visit a physical casino. This allows for convenience and comfort while still enjoying the excitement of a live casino experience. To learn more about Sic Bo, check out gambling sites with live sic-bo and learn everything you need about the game.

The article highlights five Asian actors who have made it big in Hollywood, coming from diverse backgrounds before becoming globally recognized stars.

Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan, a Hong Kong-born Chinese actor, is widely regarded as the master of action, having helped define the Asian kung fu film genre in the 1970s and 1980s. Chan is famous for his commitment to completing dangerous stunts that elevate the quality of his films. Throughout his career spanning over 150 films, he has suffered severe injuries. Chan gained worldwide fame after starring in the cult classic Rumble in the Bronx, which led to him being cast alongside Chris Tucker in the blockbuster Rush Hour and Skiptrace.

Henry Golding

Following in the footsteps of Jackie Chan is Henry Golding. Golding gained recognition for portraying a solitary warrior with a mysterious history in the 2021 film Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Golding’s performance was notable despite the film’s narrative’s poor reception. He rose to fame after leading in the acclaimed adaptation series Crazy Rich Asians. The Malaysian-British actor’s breakout role was playing the attractive and wealthy Nick Young. He then played Tom the ghost in Last Christmas and Dry Eye, the gangster in The Gentlemen. The same year, he appeared in the Netflix TV series Persuasion and the spy drama Assassin Club.

Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee, born in the United States and raised in Hong Kong, transformed Chinese martial arts films and paved the way for Hollywood’s infiltration. Despite passing away at 33, he is still considered one of the world’s top three most influential Chinese-origin actors. Time magazine selected him as one of the 100 most influential individuals of the 20th century.

Simu Liu

Chinese-Canadian actor, Simu Liu, made history by becoming the first Asian-American starring actor in the Hollywood film Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings. Despite not being distributed in China, the film has grossed $400 million worldwide, making it one of Hollywood’s highest-grossing works of 2021. Before pursuing an acting career, Liu worked as a Deloitte accountant and earned a business administration degree from the University of Western Ontario. He gained recognition for his work in TV series such as Kim’s Convenience, Blood and Water, Dark Matter, and Orphan Black. Following the success of Shang-Chi, Disney approached Liu to collaborate on Star Wars: Visions, where he voiced the character Zhima.

Jet Li

Jet Li is a famous Chinese actor, film producer, martial artist, and Kung Fu champion who established himself in Hollywood. He is best known for playing Huang Feihong in the Once Upon a Time in China series and for his significant role as Han Sing in Romeo Must Die. Jet Li’s contributions to the film industry led to the golden age of martial arts films in Asian countries. However, due to hyperthyroidism and his deteriorating health, Jet Li decided to retire from acting and take some time to recover.
