Was Barbie Bassett fired after quoting Snoop Dogg?! After referencing the iconic rapper live on air earlier this month, the Mississippi morning news presenter has been missing from her station.
Reportedly, the WLBT meteorologist and news anchor has not been seen on TV since March 8th. Bassett and her staff were talking about Snoop’s wine line on her most recent episode, according to Deadline.
When the suggestion of a collaboration between the “Nothin’ But A G Thang” hitmaker and a newsroom reporter was made, Bassett responded, “Fo shizzle, my nizzle.”
“Nizzle” is a racial slur, technically—it means the ‘N-word.’

Bassett has generated controversy in the past as well. She issued an apology in October of last year after calling a Black reporter’s grandmother “grandmammy” on TV.
Many have assumed that because of her absence from the show since the disputed episode (Mar. 8), she has lost her job.
Bassett hasn’t been active on Twitter since then, too. While people were talking about the tornado that hit Mississippi last weekend on social media, the meteorologist was conspicuously missing.
According to the Clarion Ledger newspaper, Bassett is no longer mentioned on the station’s website.
Accordant to the publication, the news anchor hasn’t answered direct messages sent to her via Facebook, Twitter, and her website.
“As I’m sure you will understand, WLBT is unable to comment on personnel matters,” the station’s regional vice president Ted Fortenberry is quoted as saying in The New York Post.
