For a brand-new docuseries that is coming to Netflix, Hollywood heavy-hitter Jada Pinkett Smith is examining the life of Queen Cleopatra — but when will the series air?
The four-part series, which features John Partridge and Michael Greco, will reexamine Cleopatra’s fascinating life and what makes her a contemporary cultural icon.
She was a bold queen whose intelligence was frequently overshadowed by her beauty and romances. Nevertheless, there has been significant scholarly discussion over Cleopatra’s ancestry.
The interesting docu-drama will chart the ascent and decline of the iconic figure whose reputation has been repeatedly inflated and distorted by history.

The Netflix original series Queen Cleopatra will debut on May 10th, 2023.
There will be four episodes available for streaming.
The story of Cleopatra VII Philopator, the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt from 51 to 30 BC, will be examined in ‘Queen Cleopatra.’
Pinkett Smith spoke on Queen Cleopatra and said, “We don’t often get to see or hear stories about Black queens, and that was really important for me, as well as for my daughter, and just for my community to be able to know those stories because there are tons of them! Cleopatra is a queen who many know about, but not in her truth.”
She added, “She’s been displayed as overtly sexual, excessive, and corrupt, yet she was a strategist, an intellect, a commanding force of nature, who fought to protect her kingdom… and her heritage is highly debated. This season will dive deeper into her history and re-assesses this fascinating part of her story.”
On Wednesday, April 13, Netflix made the Queen Cleopatra cast official.
Adele James from Casualty will play Cleopatra, while John Partridge from EastEnders will play Julius Caesar, Craig Russell from The Last Kingdom will play Marc Antony, and Michael Greco from EastEnders will play Pothinus.
