Nashawn Breedlove, best known for his role of “Lotto” in the hit 2002 film 8 Mile has passed away at the age of 46.
His mother, Patricia Breedlove, confirmed his death via a heartfelt Facebook post on Tuesday.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of my beloved son Nashawn Breedlove’s passing. Many of you knew him by his alias’ Lotto, ox’, a name that echoed his resilience and determination,” she wrote in the FB post.“Nashawn was a rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. No one could deny his talent.”
She continued adding that his death has left “an immense void in her life” and that he was a “remarkable man.”
“Nashawn’s departure from this world has left an immense void in my life, one that words cannot fully express. I can’t put into words the pain and hurt that I feel. He was not just my son; he was a remarkable man whose character and strength inspired all who crossed his path.”
According to TMZ, Nashawn Breedlove died in his sleep at his home in New Jersey. However, his loved ones aren’t yet aware of the cause of his death.
In 8 Mile, Lotto famously battle-rapped the character B-Rabbit, portrayed by iconic rapper Eminem spitting,
“I feel bad I gotta murder that dude from Leave It To Beaver, I used to like that show, now you got me to ‘fight back’ mode, But oh well, if you gotta go, then you gotta go!”
Although his character lost, he was still remembered as a memorable one.
Prior to becoming Lotto Nashawn Breedlove was reportedly battle rapping in real life under the alias OX. Fellow rapper Mickey Factz paid tribute to him in an Instagram post on Tuesday saying, “RIP to one of the few emcee’s to beat Eminem… Lotto from 8 Mile. Who’s friends lovingly called him, OX. You will be missed for your tenacity and aggressiveness.”

Under the stage name OX, Nashawn was featured on the soundtrack for the 2001 movie The Wash with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
