Lil Kim Says She Didn’t Approve Her Ebony Magazine Cover

Lil Kim is tired of the comments regarding her appearance and this time, she claimed, EBONY Magazine is to blame. According to her Instagram stories, she didn’t approve her cover photo for the publication’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

“Who is this?! Cuz that’s not the photo I approved or any other content they’ve put out. I always told Ebony it looked like a painting but they didn’t wanna listen. They said they loved it. It’s the sabotage for me. The funny shit about this, is that this is THEIR retoucher! [laughing, crying, face palm emojis].”

She also reposted an image of another alleged photo from the shoot, originally posted by user @international_smoove saying “Me and @lilkimthequeenbee stayed up for house wit the team & chose this [one]..we have the receipts fool! For the record we definitely didn’t choose that other flick [camera emoji] @ebonymagazine #EMD.”

In response she wrote, “Period!”

However, EBONY Magazine’s photography director Keith Major wasn’t having it. He responded to a fan’s comment inquiring about who took Lil Kim’s picture saying, “Man, she wanted to be in control of retouching so this is what we got.”

The Brooklyn rapper wouldn’t let up though, as she insisted she didn’t choose her cover photo. Lil Kim reposted one of her fan pages’ comments defending her saying,

“So to have a lying unprofessional clown who took horrible pictures and then ebony edited tf out of them and just uts whichever one they want on the magazine and publish it without Kim’s consent is CRAZY,” @lilkimvideos_ wrote.

EBONY itself seemed unbothered about the backlash, as they kept the original magazine cover up. They were not about to let criticism get in the way of them celebrating Lil Kim for hip-hop’s 50th anniversary.

“As EBONY continues to honor #HipHop50 in partnership with @MassAppeal, @lilkimthequeenbee shows up on our cover on her own time and in her own way, maximizing her agency as a trendsetting and Hip Hop legend on the terms she sets,” their latest post showing off their Lil Kim cover says. “That’s just how a Queen Bee does it–shall she proceed?”
