The Rock Making WWE Comeback? What His Return Would Mean

After nearly ten years gone, The Rock is thinking about making a WWE comeback, and he mentioned the prospect of doing so in an interview with “The Pat McAfee Show.”

As the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue, two of Hollywood’s biggest WWE Superstars, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena, have returned to the ring.

The Rock made a surprise return to the Friday Night SmackDown roster in front of a Denver audience on episode 9/15. Standing ovations were given as The Rock frequently expressed how nice it was to be back home. Who could blame him, though?

Even without taking into account the strike-related lack of jobs, appearances, and projects to promote, his current stance in Hollywood has taken a bit of a blow.

Young Rock, Dwayne Johnson’s autobiographical television series, was similarly cancelled by NBC. It provided a look at the wrestler-turned-actor at various points in his life, including his background, his time playing football at the University of Miami, and his rise to fame in the wrestling world.

WWE To See Return of The Rock

With his show coming to an end, Black Adam bombing, his XFL losing $60M, and having to put his feud with Vin Diesel to bed so that he could feature in the upcoming Fast and the Furious film, it seems this is the ideal time for the iconic wrestler to jump back into pummeling opponents for a living.

Even a brief altercation between The Rock and Cena backstage is undoubtedly a tease for their forthcoming rematch at WrestleMania 40, which will take place 10 years after their first fight at WrestleMania 29.

The Rock’s comeback was also promoted by WWE on social media, where it reportedly received over 100 million views.

The Rock’s presence on Fox’s Friday Night SmackDown, according to Deadline, had a huge impact, bringing in 2.6 million viewers, a 23% increase from the previous week’s total.

Are you stoked to see The Rock return to the WWE? Sound off in the comments!
