Between the ages of one through six Travis stayed with his grandmother in South Park, Houston. Eventually he moved to a suburban area with his parents in Missouri City. Travis attended Elkins High School and moved on to the University of San Antonio Texas for two years. He dropped out after two years so that he could start his music career full-time. In an interview with Complex, Travis mentioned that the name derived from his uncle, whose name was Travis. His uncle’s nickname was also Scott, which he then merged together to create ‘Travis Scott.’
He explained his uncle’s style saying, “If I wanted to be a rapper, I wanted to be this n*gga. N*gga is smooth. Travis is smooth. I’ve always been smooth.”

Travis has a long list of accomplishments starting at being a Grammy winner. He has over 100 charting songs, four number one hits on Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and he has sold over 49 million records in the U.S. alone. If that doesn’t tell you what an amazing artist he is, I don’t know what would.
Many people have described Travis music style to be a mixture of traditional Hip-Hop and lo-fi. Lo-fi is also known as low-fidelity, which is when the artist leaves their imperfections in the sound or quality of their music. It was extremely popular in the late 90s.
In 2012, Travis signed with his first major label, Epic Records, while also being an in-house producer for Kanye West label GOOD Music. In 2013, he was also working with T.I.’s Grand Hustle Records. During that year he released his first full length mixtape called Owl Pharoah. By 2015, he released his debut studio album Rodeo, which featured his first mainstream hit, “Antidote.” The single climbed the charts as it was his first hit song that reached as high as number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The 2016 album, Birds in the Trap Sing Midnight became number one album on the Billboard 200 chart. That led to a collab album between Travis, Huncho Jack & Quavo in 2017.
But it was his album Astroworld (2018) that turned heads worldwide. The album became number one on Billboard 200 along with his Drake assisted single, “Sicko Mode” that charted number one on Billboard Hot 100 chart. Shortly after, he dropped 3 number one singles and became the first artist to create that many hits in less than a year.
The success of the album led to his Astroworld Festival, where fans would flock to Houston to support him.
About five years after his first solo album he dropped Utopia in 2023, another number one album on the Billboard 200.

Travis founded Cactus Jack Records, a partnership developed with Epic Records in 2017.
Along with having his hands in the fashion world. He partnered with popular clothing company, A Bathing Ape (BAPE). His first project with the streetwear company consisted of three pieces: long sleeve tee, a t-shirt & a shark hoodie. That granted him another collaboration with a streetwear company called Diamond Supply Co. based in California.
He has many shoe companies that he works with as well, including Nike. He not only collaborates with clothing companies but with the film industry as well.
