Tubi is airing a new original series, Demascus, a sci-fi comedy series. Originally with AMC, Damascus was set to air in 2023 after filming in February 2022. AMC planned to premiere it; however, it failed to schedule a premiere date. However, in January 2023, the network announced that it would not be airing the series, despite the cast of Demascus series having already finished production.
Demascus, which was concluded in 2023, is now set to air in 2025, and the cast includes Martin Lawrence, Okieriete Onaodowan, Caleb Eberhardt, Janet Hubert, and Shakira Ja’nai Paye. The former AMC series revolves around Demascus, “a 33-year-old Black man who goes on a journey of self-discovery using an innovative new technology that allows him to experience different versions of his own life.”
AMC president Dan McDermott previously called Demascus a “real and engaging exploration of being a Black man in America, with a rich and full character as our guide”. Tearrance Arvelle Chisolm, who is credited as the content creator, is the writer and playwright. It was executively produced by Mark Johnson’s Gran Via Productions and produced by Myki Bajaj. The sci-fi comedy six-episode series will be showrun by Kirk Moore.
Demascus is a not-so-common sci-fi comedy, set to arrive on Tubi. Tubi, a free streaming platform with content from major studios, including Fox, Warner Bros., and HBO, allows fans to watch without a paid subscription. Get to meet the Demascus 2025 cast down below:

Okieriete Onaodowan as Demascus
He was in the stage play by Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton. Other notable works include Pierre in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812,
Following the character from his office hours, Demascus is a government worker who is a graphic artist. He is working on a project encouraging Black participation in a space program. his best friend, Redd (played by Caleb Eberhardt), a District of Columbia public defender.
Caleb Eberhardt as Redd
Fans might remember him from Judas and the Black Messiah. He plays a District of Columbia public defender. He has a strong and loyal friendship with the lead role, Demascus. Eberhardt said in an interview, “He’s incredibly outspoken, doesn’t hold back, and he’s a little wild… There’s a main universe version of Redd, but then also these other versions of Redd. And I guess the common thing is that he is outside of the box. He thinks for himself. And like I said, he’s incredibly loyal to Demascus.”
Martin Lawrence as Uncle Forty
Lawrence plays Uncle Forty, a character with health complications yet agile in mind. This role will be Lawrence’s first appearance on television since 2014, when he starred in the sitcom Partners. He’s a relative of Demascus and will be appearing in three seasons.
Janet Hubert as Dr Bonnetville
Poplarly known for her role in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, she plays a medical doctor. “When they came to me with the role, I was absolutely blown away. Blown away by her fierceness, her ability to go here, there, here, there. Emotionally, she’s all over the place, but she’s always stoic. So it was cool. A challenge,” Hubert complimented her character, Dr. Bonnetville.
Shakira Ja’nai Paye as Naomi
She became known for her roles in All Day and a Night, Single Drunk Female, and black-ish. Naomi is a multi talented individual who is an artist, nun and nurse working in a psychiatric hospital. She piques Demascus interests romantically. Will a love blossom?
Sasha Hutchings as Budhi Banks
Sasha Hutchings plays Budhi Banks, a young tech-savvy lady who has been in a relationship with Demascus for 3 years. Although, their relationship seems to be having a bumpy ride ahead as Demascus seems to be losing interest and looking outward. Will their long-term relationship survive this temptation or is this the end?
Other cast members include Brie Eley as Shekinah, Marvin LaViolette as Arnez, Joshua Mikel as Sebastian Charles, Grace Junot as Ol’ Girl, Brittany Adebumola as Shaena, and Amos Blackmon as Drew.
