Tubi is airing a new original series, Demascus, a sci-fi comedy series. Originally with AMC, Damascus was set to air in 2023 after filming in February 2022. AMC planned to premiere it; however, it failed to schedule a premiere date. However, in January 2023, the network announced that it would not be airing the series, despite the cast of Demascus series having already finished production.

Demascus, which was concluded in 2023, is now set to air in 2025, and the cast includes Martin Lawrence, Okieriete Onaodowan, Caleb Eberhardt, Janet Hubert, and Shakira Ja’nai Paye. The former AMC series revolves around Demascus, “a 33-year-old Black man who goes on a journey of self-discovery using an innovative new technology that allows him to experience different versions of his own life.”

AMC president Dan McDermott previously called Demascus a “real and engaging exploration of being a Black man in America, with a rich and full character as our guide”. Tearrance Arvelle Chisolm, who is credited as the content creator, is the writer and playwright. It was executively produced by Mark Johnson’s Gran Via Productions and produced by Myki Bajaj. The sci-fi comedy six-episode series will be showrun by Kirk Moore.

Fans might remember him from Judas and the Black Messiah. He plays a District of Columbia public defender. He has a strong and loyal friendship with the lead role, Demascus. Eberhardt said in an interview, “He’s incredibly outspoken, doesn’t hold back, and he’s a little wild… There’s a main universe version of Redd, but then also these other versions of Redd. And I guess the common thing is that he is outside of the box. He thinks for himself. And like I said, he’s incredibly loyal to Demascus.”
