Only a few months ago, the ’67 kid’ became a viral TikTok meme after using the slang that became popular among the younger generation, but is the trend finally over? For older folks, the 67 trend caused a reaction on social media, with many complaining that the TikTok slang does not have a fixed meaning or explanation. Many are still wondering why kids are saying 67??? And what does 67 even mean?

The slang was linked to a song from a Philadelphia rapper called Skrilla. In his 2024 rap song named “Doot Doot (6 7),” he featured the phrase. A part of the lyric goes, “6-7, I just bipped right on the highway.” The phrase later went viral on TikTok, and as they say, the rest is history.

While it sometimes appears as 67, or 6-7. or even 6’7″, it’s pronounced six-seven, and not sixty seven.

6 7 Slang Trend Meaning Explained: Why the Viral Kid Meme Took Over TikTok

Where did the TikTok 6 7 meme originate?

On March 31, 2025, a YouTuber named Cam Wilder uploaded a basketball video that quickly gained the public’s attention. Subsequently, a moment occurred at 13:24 in the video, when a boy with blonde hair, wearing a gray hoodie, made an appearance. The kid was saying the words, six-seven, followed by the hand symbol, and was called “the 6 7 kid”. This declaration of being 6’7″ unexpectedly turned into a viral meme and spread rapidly across the internet.

What does 67 slang mean?

The meaning of the TikTok 67 slang has caused controversy, with many claiming it is meaningless, while others argue it is a funny word that unites. To define what it means, words like ‘brain-rot’, ‘nothing‘, ‘so-so’, ‘maybe this or that’, ‘nonsensical’ and more have been used.  Regardless, the meaning of 67 is versatile.

For contextual use, the song was quickly used in video edits of NBA player LaMelo Ball, who happens to be 6 feet 7 inches (2.01 meters) tall. Others claim the 67 slang refers to people’s height.

Why did the 67 meme go viral?

This single moment perfectly captured the viewers’ attention, leading to the video’s unexpected success. The simplicity of the statement, combined with the visual context, resonated with viewers. The phrase “6’7” became a symbol of both humor and surprise.

Is the 67 Trend Over?

The meme’s going viral and the kid becoming a meme shows how quickly content goes viral and the power of social media as a tool to easily disseminate information. It also reveals how a moment can capture the internet’s attention. However, it seems the trend might fade out if people stop using it as often.
