Life moves fast, and as we get older, it’s natural to want to feel and look our best. Cosmetic procedures are used to enhance one’s appearance, with plastic surgery becoming more common and accepted among celebrities. If there are aspects of your body you’d like to improve, that’s perfectly okay. Here is what to know before getting plastic surgery and how to prepare for it.

Plastic surgery can be a way to boost your confidence and help you feel like the best version of yourself. Brazilian butt lifts, facelifts, fillers, and other procedures are being used as corrective options, and there are a few things you should know before considering them.

Whether it is to boost your confidence, hide your insecurity, or even because you want to look good, plastic surgery like BBL is alright as long as you are aware of the procedure it involves. Here is what to understand before getting plastic surgery and how to prepare for it.

Thinking About Plastic Surgery? 10 Things You Should Know About Cosmetic Procedures

Pre-Surgery

  1. Know Your Motivation: Be certain beyond a reasonable doubt that you want to undergo this plastic surgery. While external factors can influence your reasons to do it, you should make this decision for yourself. Realise that cosmetic procedures are permanent in most cases and can be equally expensive to reverse.
  2. Understand the Procedure: Research the details of the surgery you’re considering. Some procedures, like those involving fat transfer, involve multiple steps, such as one for removal and another for addition.
  3. Be Aware of Risks: It is best to be optimistic in situations like this but understand both the best and worst-case scenarios. It is best to ask the right questions and know what you can do to reduce potential complications before and after the surgery.
  4. Choose Your Doctor Carefully: Just because a doctor claims to be good at it, is not enough reason to trust him or her. Verify the doctor’s qualifications and certifications. Don’t rely solely on claims; ensure they have the proper credentials and certifications.
  5. Review Previous Results: You can request to see before-and-after photos and in addition, research the doctor’s experience with similar procedures.

Post-Surgery

  1. Manage Pain and Discomfort: You will experience some pain, swelling, and bruising which will be manageable, especially 72 hours after the procedure. Your body needs time to adjust, and this might not be a comfortable period for you.
  2. Support System: Plan this support well in advance to help you during this crucial time. Reach out to a friend or family member to help you out with chores and errands, as you will be indisposed for some weeks after the surgery. You also need a guardian to drive you home post-surgery.
  3. Prioritise Rest: Rest is crucial for your body when recovering from surgery. Aim to avoid strenuous activity and movement; if any, wait until weeks after the surgery.
  4. Eat well and stay hydrated: Hydration will assist in flushing out anesthesia from your system and reduce swelling. A balanced meal should be prioritised, as your body will use these nutrients to heal.
  5. Follow Your Surgeon’s Instructions: This includes taking your medication as prescribed and not missing follow-up sessions that are scheduled. Try to be as honest as possible with your surgeon and address any potential complications early on.
