  • THE RIVALRY BETWEEN DRAKE AND KENDRICK LAMAR CONTINUES!

Two of the biggest names in the rap game, Kendrick Lamar and Drake recently got into the viral spotlight after Kendrick openly dissed Drake in a song by Future and Metro Booming in which Kendrick was featured, “Like That” in the new album, “We Don’t Trust You”.

Kendrick and Drake share a complex past, it all began in 2011 when Kendrick was given an interlude by Drake in his album, “Take Care”. Drake also invited Kendrick Lamar to the Club Paradise tour in which J. Cole, A$ap Rocky, Meek Mill, and many others were also present. 

Their once friendly relationship has declined into a feud between a Canadian rapper, and arguably the greatest rapper of all time. On “like That”, Kendrick rapped, “Motherfuck the big three, nigga, it’s just big me, Nigga, bum, what? I’m really like that……”.

Although he didn’t mention any names, the hip-hop fans understand just what he meant and who he was referring to on that verse.

We all know the beef isn’t ending anytime soon as Drake responded with a post on Instagram with a caption stating, “They rather go to war with me than admit they are their own worst enemy”.

 

  • HALLE BAILEY AND DDG

Halle and her boyfriend, DDG, surprised their fans by announcing the birth of their son, catching many off guard as her pregnancy had not been publicly known.

The singer-actor, aged 23, explained that concealing her pregnancy from the internet and fans for months enabled her to have a “wonderful, private, and healthy time during my journey.” She also appreciated her fans in a Q&A session on Snapchat. She stated she wanted “to wait to share something this sacred and beautiful”.

Her comment section was divided the first time she announced and publicly shared pictures of her baby bump. 

Celebrities such as Cynthia Erivo, Gabrielle Union, and expectant mother Kali Uchis joined in cheering Bailey for sharing glimpses of her pregnancy journey. Supportive fans also voiced their anticipation for her upcoming music.

 

  • TARAJI P. HENSON TEAMED UP WITH QUEEN LATIFAH TO PROTEST THE DISPARITY IN PAY FOR BLACK HOLLYWOOD ACTRESSES

At this year’s Awards ceremony, Queen Latifah and Taraji P. Henson joined forces to address the unequal pay faced by black actresses in Hollywood.

During her opening remarks at the NAACP event, Queen Latifah discussed the challenges that Americans are encountering, such as inflation, prompting Taraji P. Henson to assert that black actresses still experience underpayment in Hollywood.

Queen Latifah then invited all black actresses to rise and be acknowledged as representatives of the community. Just as the stars were preparing to sit back down, Latifah urged them to remain standing and addressed the entire audience, saying,

“Everyone else in this room, please stand up for all the Black actresses who have been advocating for us. Stand with us, support us, join us. Because it’s your solidarity that stands by us every day. We recognize this, and we want to express our gratitude.”

 

  • JAKE PAUL AND “IRON” MIKE TYSON BOXING MATCH

The upcoming heavyweight boxing match between professional boxer Jake Paul and former undisputed heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson is set to happen on July 20, 2024, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Of course, this sparked up some controversies, the heavyweight champion has been inactive in the ring since his exhibition match of less than eight rounds against former middleweight Roy Jones Jr. in Los Angeles in November 2020, which resulted in a draw. This upcoming fight is emblematic of a growing trend in the United States: matching internet celebrities or retired boxers against each other.

The whole boxing world anticipates this boxing match. Jake Paul stated in a post on Twitter, “It’s been the biggest fight announcement in history…..”.

  • TYLA WINS HER FIRST GRAMMY 

Tyla Laura Seethal, who goes by her stage name Tyla, is a singer and songwriter from South Africa. Hailing from Johannesburg, she gained recognition after the local success of her debut single “Getting Late” featuring Kooldrink in 2019, leading her to sign with Epic Records in 2021.

The 22-year-old singer won her first Grammy award on Sunday, February 4 in the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles for the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance category. 

Facing formidable competition, she was nominated alongside prominent African acts such as Burna Boy, Asake, and Davido. This naturally stirred reactions from fans, with some arguing that she was undeserving of the award 

She stated, “I never thought I’d say I won a Grammy at 22 years old,”.

 

  • USHER’s SUPER BOWL HALFTIME PERFORMANCE 

The 45-year-old rapper recently performed on the biggest and most-watched show in America every year. The Super Bowl is the annual league championship game of the National Football League (NFL) of the United States.

The performance was both entertaining and fun as the rapper performed alongside Alicia Keys during the halftime performance and had all 65,000 fans and viewers cheering and singing along in the Allegiant Stadium in Vegas.
