They say when one door closes another opens; or for Qwanell ‘Que” Mosley, 5 more open. He was a member of R & B group Day 26 and now he’s become the solo artist that all of us have been wishing for. We all know that an artist with that much talent doesn’t need to be in a group; and since December of 2009, Que has been a solo artist, debuting his first mixtape titled Q Files. And if you thought that was all, you’re wrong because this summer he’ll premiere his first solo album along with a reality show with girlfriend Dawn Richard.

Parlé: How old were you when you knew you wanted to perform and become a singer?
Que: I was in kindergarten when I sung for the first time. Seeing my classmates and everyone stand up and clap for me was unforgettable. I knew I was supposed to perform. I actually went back to my school recently and my teacher gave me the video of me singing.

Parlé: After singing over the years while in school and perfecting your craft, what were you feelings when you heard your name called to become a member of Day 26?
Que: It made me look at myself and feel like I’ve accomplished something. My hard work has finally paid off. Especially when you spend a lot of time working on your craft; I was definitely proud of myself.

Parlé: When did you first get in the studio to start recording your mixtape Q Files, and what sound did you want to have?
Que: My sound is R & B and pop. I like to call it a commercial sound. A combination of Chris Brown and Usher. I admire both of their styles and I’m big fans of them. My mixtape is preparing my fans for my album that’s coming out this summer. I wanted to make some head bangers. I also have used Ustream to debut a few songs such as “Hello Cupid” and “Positive Energy”. I didn’t want to give them too much. This is me stepping out on my own. I wanted everyone to know that I have an opinion. I’m not only a reality star, I’m also an artist.

Parlé: What topics can fans expect you to cover on Q Files?
Que: My past experiences. This album is well over due. I believe a good song is a great experience you’ve been through. I sing about my relationship with Dawn; who collaborated with me on a record. I vent about my experience with Day 26. I want fans to know I’m not crazy, I just wanted to have my business in order. When you’re in a group, you should want to see your books, know how much money you’re making and what hits I’ve made. I was the only one concerned about that.

Parlé: I read you were signing to Atlantic Records, any truth to that?
Que: Yes, I am still signed to Atlantic Records although Day 26 sent me a letter saying they don’t want to work with me anymore. I’m giving Atlantic the upper hand because I’m still a part of them.

Parlé: What else do you want to tell fans about Q Files?
Que: Just to expect great music. If you’re feeling the mixtape then you’ll enjoy my album because it will be 10x better. I’m saying something that’s worth listening to on Q Files
