Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq film soundtrack was released in stores on December 4th 2015 via RCA Records/40 Acres & A Mule.  The soundtrack features music from Nick Cannon, who also stars in the film, along with Chicago natives, R. Kelly and Jennifer Hudson among other A-list singers.  Spike Lee executive produced the soundtrack and of course directed and co-wrote the film.

The movie’s powerful message is reflected in songs such as Nick Cannon’s “Pray 4 My City,” that embodies the essence of his character Chi-Raq, a rapper addressing the harsh realities of his environment, and Kevon Carter’s self-reflecting “WGDB,” which examines and seeks solutions for the violence happening in Chicago. The recently released emotional Spike Lee-directed videos for “WGDB” and “Pray 4 My City” can be viewed here and here.
