Deadpool Animated Series Coming To FXX
Childish Gambino, a.k.a. Donald Glover, seems to be taking absolutely no L’s. Deadline reports that the rapper/actor/writer will now be doing a Deadpool animated series for FXX, coming in 2018.
“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,” said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions, “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”
That’s the kind of work Glover seems to be doing. He’ll be working on the animated series along with his brother, Stephen Glover. Both Glover brothers will be showrunners, executive producers and writers for the show. It seems it would be a no-brainer to try and get Ryan Reynolds to provide the voice for the character.
“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!, said Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”
Fun fact, this isn’t the first time Donald has been associated with animated superhero TV shows. He once provided the voice for Marvel Comics character Miles Morales in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series.
Donald Glover certainly has a lot on his plate, in addition to this Deadpool animated series. He’s coming fresh off of the success of his FX hit show Atlanta, as well as a couple of Golden Globe wins. Glover’s also going to be doing the voice for Simba in the Lion King remake and will be playing Lando Calrissian in the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film. Last year he also released the hit album, Awaken, My Love!
