Method Man (Clifford Smith) ascended to fame as a member of The Wu-Tang Clan and later became the first of the group to go solo releasing Tical and establishing himself as a legend of Hip-Hop. Redman (Reginald “Reggie” Noble) made his debut under the tutelage of EPMD’s Erick Sermon’s rap super group Def Squad. It’s no secret that Method Man and Redman are accomplished artists on their own terms but together they are a legendary duo.

With the release of their first collab album (excluding features from individual songs) Blackout! in 1999, the rap world and the Hip-Hop community embraced these two with loving and open arms; their similar styles, observational catchy metaphors and stoner humor were perfectly matched for each other. And then in 2001 the success reached a whole new lever when the motion picture How High was released in theaters starring Method Man and Redman as two underachieving stoners who get into Harvard University. Critics and fans alike were astonished at the huge success of this classic stoner comedy.

In 2004, Fox launched what could only be called a dream come true, “Method & Red”. The rappers got their own half hour comedy sitcom. It only lasted about nine episodes and although everyone I know (including myself) loved the show, Fox cancelled it. It was too good for it’s time, I’d wish they’d try again and maybe like on HBO or Comedy Central (They haven’t been the same since Chappelle walked).

After what seemed like some time apart the duo finally returned last year to release their long awaited follow-up to their 1999 Blackout! with 2009’s Blackout! 2. True Hip-Hop heads rejoiced with the “comeback” of these two blazing (more ways than one) pioneers.

Despite Method Man’s minor spat with New Jersey rapper Joe Budden, I would love to see these three do a track together. Redman is already featured on a mixtape with Budden. A collaboration may be in the works for the future.  Either way there is plenty to look forward to from these guys.  Redman gears up to release his upcoming CD, Reggie and Method Man is preparing his CD, The Crystal Meth.
I am sure the fans can expect nothing but the best from these two. Let’s show Methodman and Redmand love and let these fellows know that we didn’t forget that they are Hip-Hop Legends.

Adrian "A.D." Dubard

Born in Washington DC, Adrian was placed in the care of his maternal grandparents after his mother died when he was a baby. For the most part of his life, Adrian’s biological father was absent from his life. Growing up with a house full of cousins, aunts and uncles, Adrian began his love of writing to document his surroundings. Attending a private school for 9 ½ years, it was there that many influential teachers help strengthen his love of writing via English and creative writing classes. Even though, Adrian loved to write he was reserved about what he wrote about. Leaving DC at the age of 7, Adrian and his family moved to Temple Hills, Maryland in Prince George’s not too far from where he had lived previously. Luckily, Adrian had taken part in many youth outreach programs as a youth that allowed him to travel and see the country, many kids he knew around his own age hadn’t even left the city. These experiences opened his eyes to other cultures and ways of living. As a teenager, Adrian had many friends who passed away before their time but he promised to keep writing to honor their memory. Other than writing, Adrian has helped various charities rise by going on public speaking tours. Some of these charities include The Safe Haven Project and The Journey of Hope. He has contributed to several book projects and currently resides in Queens, NY. Read more articles by Adrian.
