Last month, ESSENCE Magazine announced that Jill Scott would be honored at this year’s Black Women In Music Conference. The 6th annual event adds Scott to a list of past honorees that include Mary J. Blige, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monáe, and Solange Knowles.
“Jill Scott is the quintessential ESSENCE woman. Like many of the female artists who inspired her – she has touched the collective soul of women across generations,” says ESSENCE Editor-in-Chief Vanessa K. DeLuca, explaining the honor.
On Friday, Essence announced that Chaka Khan, Brandy, and Lianne La Havas would be joining Jill Scott at the end as performers. Havas, a relatively new artist from London joins the two R&B legends for what is sure to be a great night of music.
