BET’s ‘The Quad’ Is Returning For Its Second Season In 2018
BET’s The Quad Will Kick Off 2018 With Season Two
BET will bring in 2018 with the second season of their critically acclaimed series, The Quad. Created by Felicia D. Henderson (Family Matters, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Charles Holland, and Rob Hardy, the African-American-based drama follows Dr. Eva Fletcher–portrayed by Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls, For Colored Girls), a newly-elected president of the fictional HBCU, Georgia A&M University. Upon her arrival, Fletcher is thrown into the culture-rich college world of GAMU, as she must quickly adapt to her newfound presidential responsibilities. As adversity begins to arise on campus, with their controversial marching band and student body, Fletcher struggles to cope, all while balancing a messy personal life and her rebellious, college-aged daughter, Sydney.
The Quad made its world premiere back on February 1st, of this year, debuting a 120-minute pilot film to kick off the start of season one. Of course, the pilot aired on BET, and, a week later, episode one followed. The season held eight episodes, which, along with Rose, starred acting vets Jasmine Guy, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, and Sean Blakemore. Season one aired its last episode on March 29th. The series saw great success, as it was, shortly after, renewed for a season two.
Season two of The Quad will return to BET in January of 2018, and, though an official release date hasn’t been announced, viewers of the series are still raving in anticipation.
The network has done an amazing job at crafting a storyline that not only gives the audience an in-depth look at the hidden truths behind some HBCUs but it also highlights the everyday struggles of black millennials, both male and female.
The Quad is something for people of all demographics to thoroughly enjoy, and we can’t wait to see what the cast has to offer for season two!
How excited are you?
