Showtime Airing An All-New Series, The Chi, This January, Official Trailer Here…

With the start of every new year is a new beginning for new things. On January 7th, 2018, Showtime will be premiering their newest addition to the network, The Chi. The series, which takes place in the southside of Chicago, is timely coming of age drama, which centers around a group of people who become linked by coincidence but later develop a bond through their need for connection and redemption.

Greeted by kids, going through their regular daily routines as they prepare to go to school, parents who are on their way to work, young adults who are trying to make a living, and the nosy elders who keep an eye on any and everything from their porches, The Chi not only depicts the everyday quirks of life in the Windy City but it also gives insight on just how gritty things in city can be, too.

Living in a tough neighborhood, surrounded by the hard knocks, dangers lurking around the corner pose a threat to the individuals’ well-being, as even a small decision made can have a huge impact on their life, and possibly even end it.

Created by Emmy award-winning and Master of None star Lena Waithe, The Chi is produced by Erin Mitchell, Elwood Reid, Dave Rodriguez, Adam Glass, Barry M. Berg, Aaron Kaplan, and rapper-turned-actor Common.

“I never thought I’d write about the city, but I just got to a place in my life where I think it was so misunderstood,” Waithe expressed. “It’s a different side of my voice, about being black and human and trying to survive and have a dream. It’s raw. It’s real. I’m not sugar-coating. It’s not, ‘Let’s show black people in Chicago in a positive light.’ It’s, ‘I want to show people in a human light.’”

The Chi will feature key cast members Jason Mitchell, Jacob Latimore, Yolanda Ross, Tiffany Boone, Alex R. Hibbert, Armando Riesco, and Ntare Mwine.
